A Lil' Info. On "Saw 2: Hacksaw"

RELEASE DATE: 10-28-2005
DIRECTOR: James Wann
WRITER: Leigh Whannell, James Wan
STARRING:
STUDIO: Lions Gate Films

Inside Film reports, "Less than a week prior to start of principal photography, Saw 2: Hacksaw still lacked a cinematographer. DP David Armstrong was approached by Dan Hefner (the film's co-producer and longtime friend) just four days before filming was to begin. Tackling photography duties for the blood soaked tale of a serial killer with a penchant for puppets intrigued Armstrong. He accepted the job and immediately immersed himself in the story."

How can it be less than a week before principal photography and they haven't even written a script yet?

Friday 19th of November 2004 -
Moviehole recently sat down with James Wan and Leigh Whannell about SAW 2 and some of the finer details of the upcoming SAW DVD. Here is a bit of what they had to say about the sequel.

Already, Lions Gate have greenlit a sequel to "Saw", but Wan and Whannell are yet to find out how involved they'll be in it. "[The] Producers are definitely talking about it yeah. We don't know exactly know what our full involvement is yet. We'd say we'll be executive producers or overseeing it. It's only in the early stages so I may have a hand in the writing. The film just opened, so it feels kinda early to be talking about a sequel. From the moment the film opened at 18.3, the sequel gets greenlit the next day. We haven't had time to think about it. But the producers have had time; they find time to talk about the sequel", Whannell laughs. "I don't think I'll be directing [it]", adds Wan, who wants to move onto directing new projects.

Neither of these guys really want to do this sequel, so they aren't going to be writing or directing it.
