San Quinn Readies "From A Boy To A Man" - October 24, 2008 By : Lil Jay

San Francisco's favorite son, San Quinn, will finally release his anticipated solo album "From A Boy To A Man" on November 25. SMC Recordings will proudly release the follow up album from Quinn's 2006 release "The Rock-Pressure Makes Diamonds", his first solo album with the company.

San Quinn explains that what sets "From A Boy To A Man" apart from his past releases is how personal it is. "I just put my life on record. I did it for my family, my fans and Fillmoe." San Quinn said. The album's title track is a direct reflection of life in San Francisco - Fillmore to be exact. The detail Quinn gives, puts fans on the same streets as him. It's that sentiment that resonates throughout the entire album.

"It's not a secret that Hip-Hop has lost it's way and rappers have blown sh*t way out of proportion," explains Will Bronson (SMC's co-founder). "So Quinn went in and gave them what they wanted- that honesty, that reality that people are dealing with everyday. The dopest thing is, when we approached producers about doing the album, they we're just as excited as us and you can hear it in the songs."

Quinn enlists fellow Bay Area artists Too Short, Mistah F.A.B. & PSD Tha Drivah among others for some explosive collaborations on "From A Boy To A Man". A special appearance is also made by Quinn's 10 year old son, Lil’ Quinn, on the track "Billionaire". As he has on previous releases, Quinn recruits longtime production partner Cozmo (Scarface), CHOPS (Bun B), Traxxamillion, Sean T and newcomers Dex Beats and Automatic.

This album has given Quinn the chance to tell his fans the story of his life and though some of it might be negative, he feels that he was able to shine something positive on each track and give his fans the good music they deserve to hear.

I was REALLY hoping for "Northern California Part 2" on this album. Hopefully it's coming at some point.
That would be coo, but what has really happened in the Bay since Northern Califronia pt1 dropped? Quinn proly aint got a whole lot to talk about...aside from Mac Dre's death and the hyphy movement.

It's not a matter of what has happened since "Northern California" dropped because the timeline in the track ended off at 1996. There's a pretty good amount of stuff Quinn could bring up on part 2.
