SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- A man with a machete attacked a pizza parlor manager after becoming enraged over the amount of time his pizza took to arrive, police said.
The manager of Pizza My Dear suffered cuts while shielding his head from the weapon and needed stitches, San Jose police Sgt. Nick Muyo said Wednesday.
A delivery man apparently arrived within the promised 45 minutes, but "the suspect meets him and is cussing a blue streak, yelling at the guy, saying he doesn't want the pizza because he was late," Muyo said.
The angry customer went to the pizza parlor, "swearing again ... saying, 'Do you want a piece of me?' - all over a pizza" before going to his car and returning with a 2-foot machete, Muyo said.
The assailant fled after the attack and remained at large following the Friday assault.
