Two Killed in San Jose Stabbings

A spate of violence this weekend in the so called "Safest Big City." Two stabbings just hours apart left two people dead and three others wounded in San Jose.

The killings happened less than a day after city leaders pledged to combat violence. Police say 15-year-old Adrian Figueroa was stabbed Saturday afternoon as he walked with his girlfriend. Relatives say he was a fun-loving student at Willow Glen high school.

So far, police have no suspects in his killing.

Across town, officers arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a quadruple stabbing that left Mariono Granadas dead at a home. Three female relatives were also hurt.

Authorities say this weekend's killings were sad coincidences that could happen anywhere.

"These incidents do happen in any big city. They just happened to occur in the past weekend in our city," said Officer Jermaine Thomas of the San Jose Police Department.

Officers say the stabbing deaths bring San Jose's homicide total to 23 this year.
