SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco supervisors voted Tuesday to make marijuana offenses the Police Department's lowest priority, though prohibitions remain for marijuana sales in public, possession by minors or use by motorists. "San Francisco should determine its marijuana policy locally, not hand them over to the federal Drug Enforcement Administration," stated the ordinance by Supervisor Tom Ammiano.

"Law enforcement resources would be better spent fighting serious and violent crimes." Ammiano's bill was opposed by supervisors Sean Elsbernd, Michela Alioto-Pier and Fiona Ma. The law also urges the San Francisco district attorney, Kamala Harris, to make prosecution of marijuana offenses her office's lowest priority. A community oversight committee was also created to monitor implementation of the law.

on rare occasions cops don't even hassle you for the weed...they'll "confiscate" the weed or destroy it onsite.
some cops already come to the conclusion that small amounts of weed isn't worth the paper work.....

The cops in SF hardly really trip off the trees, if you're not being an idiot about it. I go to Guitar Center after work most days, since its literally on the same block that I work on...and theres always someone blowin it up right in front of the store. Like it was legal. lol...

Off Topic but true recent story:

Last week I was in the store ( GC ) where the keyboards are, and some homeless looking dude was there playing a tune, and singing along with it...didn't sound too bad...so I went over to watch and maybe learn something...

So the dude is like...here...give me 32 measures of this....showed me the chords...and I start playing it...this dude musta pulled a Ron Burgundy and whipped out a flute ! No bullshit ! He had a case for it and everything ! So I'm playing this song he supposedly wrote...and he's whaling on that flute like its nobodys business. No homo.

Didn't sound too bad either...the dude had skills...he told me that he stayed at a shelter, and that he bought the flute for $100, a steal, from what he told me...

To make a long story short, I had a jam session with a hobo. The End.

the whole country should go by this.......make marijuana your lowest priority.
Washington reduced the amount you can get busted for a few years back.

This law would do wonders if every state embraced it.Why do we need weed dealers locked up with murderers???

frisco is a nice place to light one up though... at the north end of van ness, theres a parking lot overlooking the bay, and to the left theres a hill and a stairway that leads up to a somewhat isolated area with a bench where you can smoke while enjoying views of the bay... and when you get yourself nice and toasted, you can make the 15 minute trek to hooters at fishermans wharf
