Agreed. I know all about wages, I live in San Jose...and in the bay (esp. SJ and SF), $15/hr is scrapin' by. You can get an apartment in a shitty part of town if you want to have some money left for food and cable.

About school, YES! Instead of giving kids a reason to stay, they'd rather cut programs and "save money" for more "important" shit...which nobody knows exactly what that consists of. I think for once, I completely agree with you, DOC! lol.

The government makes an ASSLOAD of money...state and Federal...but they obviously believe in spending it on bullshit instead of things that really matter. From parking in SF, to taxes, to rent money coming from businesses throughout the city...and whatever else money comes from. It seems the state government isn't disbursing funds properly (like that's a big fuckin surprise). The cities don't care about anything that's not bringin' in money, and young cats are payin' for that. Violence drives property value down, so the greedy fucks would rather just drive people away and bring in a bunch of square fish instead of helping out the people that diversify the city and make it such a nice place to be.
No doubt. I'd like to know where the city money is really going because the Roads out there are still shitty as hell. My guess is those huge Condos South of Market.

A good point was brought up about the lack of political power that black people have in the city. If you don't have money, an organized group of people can get what they want here.

Best example to me is the SF bike coalition. These muthafuckaz are responsible for so much change in the city. 6000 members. That's a lot of votes in a city like this. There is no black lobby in the city. There is no group that represents us to the city. That is why they can push black people out of the point and fillmoe and china town is still china town. We got fake ass black supervisors and organizations working us cause we share skin complexion.

I'm gonna bring it back to bart. I think message boards like this, rappers, promoters, artists, and the like, can organize a community. That is why the fake groups get mad at hip hop artists; because the groups cant reach the kids and they see those kids not fucking with them in the future but instead following the words of a rapper, or worse yet, having an independent mind.

I got to applaud Mess for what he just did with the Uptown/Downtown music he put out, and JT and Quinn have always seemed to be about supporting events and things in the community. Its just about time we start putting stuff together. We only need 6000 18 year olds! 6000 people paying taxes (sales, income, or property). 6000 people and you got a movement in this lil ass city!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_Bicycle_Coalition
The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition (SFBC) is a California 501(c)(4) nonprofit public benefit corporation established to "transform San Francisco's streets and neighborhoods into more livable and safe places by promoting the bicycle for everyday transportation." Founded in 1970, dormant through much of the 1980s, and re-founded in 1991, the SFBC in 2007 has a dues-paying membership of over 6,000 people and is considered in 2007 to be one of the most influential membership-based advocacy organizations in San Francisco.[1]

In June 2005, the city approved a SFBC-backed proposal to add bike lanes, require commercial developers to provide bike parking, and outfit Muni buses with bike racks. A June 2006 preliminary injunction stopping all physical improvements for bicycles and cyclists was upheld on November 7, 2006, by Superior Court judge Peter Bush pending the completion of a full environmental impact report.[2] The SFBC also supports efforts to improve street maintenance, decrease bicycle theft, and slow the speed of car traffic, as well as events like the annual "Bike to Work Day".

The sad part is there are already hardly any blacks left in SF. The few still there are killing each over nonsense and bullshit. Then you have the rich whites gentrifying the historically black area's like the Fillmore and HP. In 20 years SF is gonna be like Salt Lake City, full of crackas and Asians only. Back in the day SF's black population was over 20% now that shit is like 7%. Pathetic.
It's not about that. There are black cops, there are rich black people buying shit out, there are black people not doing anything about all this. I know what you are saying, but statistics and racial divides don't help us get anywhere.

And there are also Asians in Chinatown and the Tenderloin. Some of the Chinatown spots have been around longer than other places you may think of before Chinatown.

I see what you're saying though.

Just curious, what do you consider "real problems"? I think folks gettin' smoked regularly is a real problem, don't you? If people weren't gettin' shot up all the damn time, there would be no injunctions. But, they are, so there are...feel me? I'm not supportin' the 50's, but I understand why they do some of this shit.
I do consider this whole thing a real problem. People shooting each other is real. I phrased it wrong. I meant that the police are not solving the problem. I meant that they should fix underlying problems instead of trying to make or enforce law. Obviously it's not working. People need schools, things to do, community events, places to go, jobs, businesses, better quality of life, etc etc. As I'm reading this thread, a lotta the stuff is mentioned, so you know what I'm talking about.

CMP, that's a damn good project you got going on. Get at us if you need help or anything. http://screamin.org/

Imagine if you had hidden cameras with audio and you were taping when the cops pulled you over, and when the narc talked to your friend about killing. That shit is straight outta the Shield! Yeah maybe the cameras wouldn't survive a search, but there would be a way. Maybe cameras in the car, etc. The police do it, they use taping all the time. It'd be good to get back at em.

Thanks for the downtown homeless tip, but how come the cats in front of payless and shit never get caught up haha.

I agree. The district supervisors don't do shit, they're terrible. We need leaders. Rappers like JT, Messy, like you mentioned have been using their positions in a good way. And Kontac got together artists to encourage kids to stay in school. We need more things like that to happen.

.
It's not about what? What's the point of saying there are black cops? What's that have to do with anything? How do Black Cops contribute to The Black area's of SF financially? They just work there. Also what rich blacks are moving into the city? Blacks are moving OUT of the city. Blacks in general are fleeing California going back down south to Atlanta, NC, etc. There is no mass influx of rich blacks moving to SF. Every black person I know complains about the lack of blacks in the Bay and talk about leaving all the time.

Atlanta has the largest percentage of upper middle class blacks of any major city next to Washington DC. Why? Because Blacks from Out West or From NY etc are taking their money and leaving this state and others going strenghening the economy in other cities.

Also there are plenty of blacks in the Bay Area doing something but there is only so much you can do to help a person if they are not willing to help themselves.

What does that mean?

Shit gets done cause they're organized. Think about it for a second. They get shit done cause they work at it, wether it's a march, some sort of city/state legislation, something. THEY DO SHIT. That's why Blacks and Latinos complain about lack of unity, you need that to get shit done!

Yup...power in numbers. Civil Organization is the only way to get anything in this day and age.
