THAT AFTER 21 YEAR-OLD SURENO GANG MEMBER HECTOR CHAVEZ OPENED FIRE INSIDE THE NORTHRIDGE MALL IN SALINAS ON JANUARY 4TH. HE INJURED 3 PEOPLE IN THAT SHOOTING, INCLUDING A RIVAL NORTENO GANG MEMBER, A MALL SECURITY GUARD, AND ANOTHER MALL EMPLOYEE. CHAVEZ PLEADED GUILTY TO 2 COUNTS OF ATTEMPTED PREMEDITATED MURDER, 2 GANG ENHANCEMENTS, AND 2 GUN ENHANCEMENTS. HE ALSO WAIVED ANY RIGHT TO APPEAL HIS CASE.

CHAVEZ AGREED TO SERVE 2 TERMS OF 25 YEARS TO LIFE, WHICH WILL RUN CONCURRENTLY TO EACH OTHER.
