I always liked Erstad...great addition. I think he was from North Dakota, played his college ball at Lincoln though.

Youre correct, Erstad was from ND, then came to Nebraska for college.

Alex Gordon, was considered the best player since Erstad to play here, and it is probably correct. He is going to bee real sick in the next year or 2

people always thought the Royals came from the British monarchy or some shit. It comes from a huge rodeo/livestock tournament held in Kansas City, called the American Royal Livestock Show. i think thats actually kinda cool. as for the other names, i dunno.

kinda of like how the chiefs got their name. chiefs are named after a old mayor of kc who got them to come here. that they called "the chief"

As far as the rest of the names...youve proved you know all teams names in the city....but Im pretty sure they dont ahve anything to do with royalty....soo my question remains unanswered lol
I was bringing light to the fact that while it would appear that the majority of the teams have a 'Royalty' name, that it's namely only because the 2-3 most known teams from here have those type of names, when there are several that don't/haven't.

Sorry bro but the Penguins are staying in the Burgh :)
Gov. Rendell says he'll ask NHL to stop Penguins move

By The Associated Press
Wednesday, March 7, 2007

Gov. Ed Rendell says he will turn to the National Hockey League to prevent the Pittsburgh Penguins from moving, one day after the team said it had reached an impasse in negotiations with state, county and local officials to finance a new arena.

"The governor believes we have put an exceptionally attractive offer on the table," according to a statement released by Rendell's office. Later in the day, Rendell told reporters, "If they don't take it, we're going to be up in New York asking the NHL to bar the Penguins from moving."

On Monday, the Penguins said they will actively pursue relocation and blamed government officials for failing to cut a new arena deal.

Owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle said the team has agreed to pay $120 million over 30 years toward a new $290 million arena and to cover any cost overruns.

The Penguins' lease at 46-year-old Mellon Arena, the smallest and oldest arena in the league, expires June 30. The Penguins have repeatedly said they may move the team, or sell it to someone who would move it, if no deal for a new arena is in place by then.

Officials in Kansas City have offered the Penguins free rent and half of all revenues if they agree to play in the soon-to-be-completed $262 million Sprint Center.

Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said he believes it is in the team's best interest to stay in Pittsburgh and said a deal can be reached despite the team's frustration with negotiations so far.

LOL I saw the news.......It will be worked out....and they are staying in Pitt......If I am wrong I will ummmm ....buy you a drink.

If there are going to stay then why are they waiting til the last minute to make a deal for a new arena? Especially when the current lease is up in June. A new arena won't just be put up before October. 2008 maybe, but not for next season.

If Pitt wanted to keep the Pens, then they would have a deal by now. It doesn't look good that the only positive thing on their side is the history of the franchise.

It's going to be cool looking up to the rafters next season at the Sprint Center and seeing that retired #66 and the 90-91 and 91-92 Stanley Cup banners.......oh and that #87 up there in about 20 years.

I didn't get my usual Home Opener tickets this year... they sold out so damned fast! But I'm still trying to find someone with tickets to help out. All I need is two.

Anyhow, most folks outside of KC aren't going to realize how much the organization has changed until we actually go out there and win. Most people still know us as the team that was on the verge of something big when we had Jermaine Dye, Johnny Damon, Carlos Beltran, Joe Randa and Mike Sweeney all playing at the top of their game. Then, we trade them all off, with the exception of Sweeney. Look how that has turned out (sadly). Then, there was the fluke year of 2003. Made everyone in this town believe, but that turned out to be the worst thing possible for the organization because it caused Allard Baird to lose his damn mind and send the club in the wrong direction yet again.

This year will not be the year to win the division, especially with it being so tough. I mean, there is some really good talent on this team and even more waiting in the wings, so anything is possible. But next year, I expect a full blown pennant race.

Yeah, but there are no dugout boxes avaliable for any sox games...at least not with 2 seats together. There are some on stubhub for various games but they want like $100 for $32 seats. So fuck that.

I'm looking for that lower section behind homeplate or 3rd Base side. Like where you were last year and what we had the year before that.

KC is by far the worst in the Central.. They MAY be able to compete if they didn't play so many Central Division teams this year...

The Tigers, Sox, Twins and Indians are four of the best six teams in the AL. So, it's bad for the Royals when they have to face those teams 72 times this season.
