Roommates? splitting rent??

Ok ok lemme elaborate on WHY I don't think it's fair I just realized something. My lady and I planned on getting a 1 br apt for $600. I planned on paying for full rent, but hoping she would help out a lil with what she can. So here comes her friend, rent now goes up to $1,000, I'm thinkin okay, we get a roommate then rent goes down. But from what y'all sayin I'm still payin the same, I was hoping we split the rent 1/2 and we pay a lil over 1/2 and she pays a lil under 1/2. But now I'm stilll payin' the same as before except I got another person in the house and gotta worry about privacy issues in shit. I mean if I didn't have my lady with me, I'd still pay $600 for my own apt., having her in my apt. makes no difference on how much I gotta pay. So give me some more feedback.

I can see where you're commin from for real, i share a room w/ my girlfriend and we have another girl livin wit us, but its still 3 ways. hope it works out.

I THINK THAT YOU NEED TO HAVE A BETTER BACK UP PLAN THEN JUST THINKING THAT YOU GUYS WILL STAY TOGETHER...........NOT SAYING YOU WONT BUT IVE KNOWN PEOPLE WHO WERE TOGETHER AND THEN BROKE UP AND STILL LIVED TOGETHER.............IT WAS PROBABLY THE WORST THING FOR THEM.........

AND WITH HER MOM PAYING HER RENT............YOU SHOULDNT DO IT UNLESS YOU CAN PAY FOR HER TOO........ ONE OF MY FRIENDS IS OUT ABOUT 2,800 DOLLARS CUZ ONE OF HIS BOYS MOVED OUT AND SAID HIS MOM WAS GOING TO PAY THE RENT...........ALL IT TAKES IS ONE TIME FOR HER MOM TO SAY SHE ISNT GOING TO PAY IT........AND IT ALREADY DOESNT LOOK GOOD IF HER MOM IS HAVING HER HANDS IN THE SITUATION SAYING WHAT IS AND ISNT GOING TO HAPPEN RIGHT? I MEAN THATS WHY YOU GUYS ARE MOVING OUT, TO BE ON YOUR OWN........

Kryptic, your opinion matters more now since you're in the same situation. You don't think it's unfair that your roomy pays only 1/3? I don't know maybe you have to have 2 baths one for each person/couple and then you can decide if it's fair or unfair.

I'm trying to be objective about the situation and I think the 60/40 rule is best thus far. Thanks for all your inputs.

I agree with the $600 rent for you and your girl and $400 for the roomie ...

Look at it this way ...

For a 2/bd 2/ba = $1000

for a 1/bd 1/ba = $600

The difference is $400 which the extra bedroom and extra bath is FOR HER!

She should pay the difference of what it cost for the additional bedroom and bath that is FOR HER! ...

I was like damn .. I don't agree with the 3 way split ... I knew what you were saying ...lol

And to be honest even at that .. I would probably charge her even more because you have NO PRIVACY! ... lol ...

We only have 1 1/2 bathrooms here and my girl and the other chick get the full bathroom to put their shit in, the 1/2 bathroom (toilet+sink) is mine cuz i dont have alotta bathroom shit. I can see charging her more if she had her own bathroom.
