^^^i dont have the answers. these are questions that your just supposed to ponder (but not actually think hard about) until they just naturally come to you. i guess meditate, but only hippies and chinese ppl do that shit. i have money to make so i can buy cool shit to raise my self worth and esteem. i dont have time to meditate. even though zen fascinates me, i do also keep in mind that its possible that its all complete bullshit invented by some crazy ass asians who ate far too much rice to the point of delusion. either way the answers are usually very simple but at the same time profound and different from the logical answer.
the hand clapping one...i dont know yet (but you could say any eastern philosophical sounding bullshit like... "the sound of the water that flows through the spirit")
the staff one...i dont know yet...but if i were to answer a zen buddhist monk i would just raise my index finger and walk away
the grass green one...i actually came up with something. i was reading this book "email to the universe" by this guy named robert anton wilson, who might possibly be the smartest guy of the 21st century or even 20th, 19th whatever. he was talking about perception and the brain, which made me think "oh so i make the grass green." i felt all proud that a koan answer had come to me and so the next time i saw the guy who introduced me to koans and this question, i told him my answer and he said i was close and on the right track. but when i think about it, who the fuck is this guy to think he knows the right answer (and yes he does wear those thick framed glasses, so yes he is pretentious and thinks hes different than everyone and on a whole level smarter)? and then today i found this video and crazy enough the guy whose book i was reading (anton wilson) actually addresses the green grass question, and so now i understand why the answer came to me from reading his book (even though he never mentions the actual koan in the book) from what i get from the video he says the answer is "your brain". my answer was "myself" which i think is basically the same shit, but pretentious boy trying to sound like a zen guru wouldnt give it to me.
heres the video, its pretty cool:
