LOL @ grown ass niggaz on here taking this rap shit way too serious. Were yall this disappointed when u found out it wasnt a tooth fairy or santa clause? When I grew up listening to Geto Boys "Mind of a Lunatic" NWA,Gangsta Nip,Brotha Lynch,Spice 1 etc,(which was real gangsta rap not this watered down swag rap) I never even thought to expect them to really be doing that shit...and I was about 13-14. I just figured it was some cold shit that rhymed and sounded good. If the shit sounds dope fuck with it....I think its hella gay, lame, and childish to be tryna hold these rappers to their "jobs" which is to just entertain us.

thats what music should be judged by. lol @ folks getting butt hurt because this guy isnt the fantasy character you were fooled into believing.
Believing or not, its very hypocritical to be rapping about crime...when you were once a CO, keeping people locked up for the very things you are "entertaining" us with.

Thats like advocating being a vegan and sneaking hamburgers as a midnight snack.

??? Confused on what Court has to do with anything and Rick Ross is a liar? I mean its entertainment..U must have thought Chris Reeves really could fly? Did u cry when u found out that your air jordans didnt make u dunk from the free throw? Sounds like u are looking for a role model for yourself....try soccer or tennis because rappers will have a weak minded person believing everything they say..people like u are the reason the Parental Advisory stickers were implimented.

You brought up that rap is entertainment, did you not? Therefore, since Court Dog is a rapper, err, ENTERTAINER, i can only assume that everything he raps about is a fabrication as well. Or do the rules not apply for him?

Simple logic is not that hard to figure out.

The difference being when you ask Brotha Lynch, Scarface, NWA, etc if they did all the shit they rap about they all say, no its just entertainment.

Ask Ross and that lying fuck says "hell yeah I did all that shit, and no I wasn't a CO"

LOL...thats hilarious and true if u put it like that..lol..but it still doesnt over shadow the fact that his his is dope. But me myself personally never expected it to be real, regardless of him saying he did that shit. Common sense would just tell me he is tryna sell more records!! Thats it..

Not sure why u got Court on ya mind so heavy when he doesnt rap and hasnt put an album out in years, so Im going to assume this is some kind of personal attack against me (which is fine...its fun to me:) But the rules apply to him and every other actor/rapper/singer/thespian..etc. Court falls in the realm of ya Spice 1's etc, which he used to get somewhat frustrated because when he would do in-stores or radio spots he'd be like hey lil cuzin, white people would always be like "you speak so well" or "u dont act like every other rapper" cuz he was polished and respectful,or the local niggaz in that city would always be shocked that he didnt smoke weed like thats something u gotta do to be a rapper and he would be so suprised that people expected him to act like what he rapped. He would tell people...yes Ive been to jail..but no I dont rap about shit I do or have done...its purely entertainment. Most real niggaz is just tryna feed they family and make some money. Al Pacino plays a better drug dealer than Ross anyday...so u dont watch his movies anymore? Its entertainment..lighten up lil homie.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
That's what I've been telling these losers this whole time. Instead, they want to argue with me and try to take their hurt emotions out on me. It's a damn shame that you have to tell GROWN MEN this. Hahahahahaha

if it means that much to you go listen to another kind of music because rap is the wwe of the music industry. always has been always will be. if you go into it with the mindset that allows you to be shocked at news such as ross being a c.o. then you should be mad at yourself and nobody else. i listen to music like i watch a movie. do i like the story? thats it. i dont care what the actor/rapper does in real life. does the beat knock and are the rhymes catchy. pretty simple formula that will allow you to enjoy music for its intended purpose. entertainment.

This thread reminds me of a blog I wrote a while back....

Let me start by saying that, its become clearly obvious that rap listeners are by far some of the dumbest individuals on earth. Clearly because they dont know HOW to listen to the music. When you listen to a rap CD, you should view it the same way as you would a TV show or a movie. Just like you wouldnt expect for Larenz Tate to really be doing the things that O-Dog did in Menace 2 Society, you shouldnt expect for Robert Green to do the murders and criminal acts that Spice 1 talks about doing.

Im seeing people act like theyre heartbroken when someone tells them that a rapper doesnt really live the criminal lifestyle that they rap about. Like with this Rick Ross situation, I still dont see what the big deal is about him being a corrections officer in the past. It's all a market, it's entertainment and nothing more. Rappers are playing a character that their record label made for them to play. You do have rappers that are out there really living that life...but thats only a select few. And really, that's not even a good thing, so I don't understand why people are impressed by it. Then you have people that try to base their lives on whatever the rappers are talking about. Its like...the way that they carry themselves changes as a new artist comes out. When one CD plays out, this dude is lost on what to do until a new hot CD comes out.

You look on a lot of rap message boards for instance, there are so many "gangstas" that have never even seen the streets...but they think they know everything about the street life just because they listen to a rapper. Dudes are trying their best to act angry, hardcore, etc. for no reason, just because an MC talks about being crazy, psychotic, trigger happy, etc. Everytime you look up, theirs some kind of argument because some fool is trying to prove that he can be hard by talking sh*t to someone for no reason.

You also have the people that try to live the fast, expensive lifestyle that the rappers talk about. Dudes that are living in the projects, no job, driving a beat up car, etc. But are trying to wear the most expensive clothes, have 22 inch rims, wear excessive jewelry and so on...just because he saw it on BET in a video.

The rappers arent to blame for this, its mostly the listeners fault for taking this entertainment as real life. It's the weak individuals that make rap music look bad. Alot of rappers arent telling people to rob, kill, sell drugs, etc. in order to be "real." Some of them are, but not all. Most MC's talk about how they've had to do it to survive...and these lames take it as them saying that you have to do those things in order to be cool or to be considered real. Thats why you have so many wannabe gangsters running around right now, because they misinterperted what a rapper said, and theyre trying to act out what they heard on a CD. You also have them trying to be gangsters to impress these stupid ass black women that only want to f**k with a dude thats trying to emulate the BET lifestyle. Rap is entertainment, not real life. Im sick of every young person, especially teenagers trying to act like theyre the hardest gangsters on earth, when they have never stepped a foot into the street life.

Only thing they THINK they know is what they hear on a CD, and half the time...that rapper doesnt even know what he's talking about. Now, dont get me wrong, some rappers have done the things that they talk about. But at the same time, they're not telling the listener to do it. Even worse, are the ones who arent raised in that kind of environment or upbringing. But they try so hard to be a part of that lifestyle just so they can have something to rap or brag about. Their parents are teachers, doctors, lawyers, law enforcement, etc. but they want to try to get into the street life just because they heard a rap CD.

NOW...of course these kind of things were happening before rap came along. But...when gangsta rap became a popular thing, thats when this got out of hand. So once again...rap is entertainment. If you listen to it, you should listen to it the same way as you would watch a movie or TV show.

Actually, i DO listen to other music...much more than i listen to rap. But that is really irrelevant in this discussion.

Its the irony that is the plot line in the whole Rick Ross situation. Out of ALL the mainstream rappers you see on TV, how many of them were with law enforcement BEFORE they were gangster rappers? SO far, one....Rick Ross.

If people cant see the outright humor in that, than obviously you need to adjust your funny bone.

Add that to the fact that he is a shitty rapper, and you have a recipe for, well, crap.

Music always has more soul, when the artist is speaking from experience. Do you think someone like Layne Staley would have been half the singer he was if he WEREN'T a junky? Would John Coltrane's music been as nearly as spastic and crazy had he not been a junky? How about some of the greatest blues singers to ever touch a guitar/mic, would they have been any good if they WERENT feeling the blues? Or how about everyone's beloved 2Pac...would his music be even remotely as strong had he NOT been an activist for his people/thug??? Would anyone care about Public Enemy if they were posers and didnt really feel what they rapped about?

The list can go on forever...and guess what? There are PLENTY of rappers that live what they talk about...however, and most likely for the better of music, it seems that "being real" is not an option anymore. I think this is why underground rap was so important, because you really feel like reality and rap was fuzed together. C-Bo didnt go to jail because he j-walked. X-Raided isnt doing a 25-to-life term for stealing candy from 7-11.

I mean, it is what it is. People have different opinions on the subject...i just happen to HATE liars. The fact that he DENIED being a CO in the first place, is cause enough not to like him. Man up.
