SEATTLE (AP) - Three suspects were in police custody Wednesday in the shooting death of the brother of New York Knicks guard Quentin Richardson.
Lee Richardson, Jr., 31, was shot outside the family's Chicago home Monday during a robbery, police said.
His father, Lee Richardson, Sr., 62, was with him at the time but was not injured, family members said.
This was the second time a Richardson brother was fatally shot. When Quentin Richardson was 12, his 23-year-old brother Bernard was killed on the city's South Side. The case remains unsolved, his family said.
The Knicks said Quentin Richardson, 25, left the team Monday, but would not say why. Knicks spokesman Jonathan Supranowitz said it is uncertain when Richardson will return. A message left Wednesday with the Knicks was not immediately returned.
Lee Richardson Jr. and his father were outside the house Monday afternoon when a van pulled up and three men jumped out. The men ordered the Richardsons to lie down before robbing them, Quentin and his sister, Rochelle Richardson, told the Chicago Sun-Times in Wednesday's editions.
Lee Richardson, Jr., a Chicago music producer, fought back and was shot four times, Rochelle said.
Three men were arrested on Monday and charges had not yet been filed Wednesday morning, Chicago police spokesman Hector Alfaro said.
Quentin Richardson is in his first season with the Knicks after playing last season in Phoenix. He's averaging 6.9 points in 14 games.
