Ya this is my third year, still need 3 classes and they all filled up so I just said fuck it and took EMT and once I get my certificate for that I'm gonna start applying to houses hoping that if I can get in they'll pay for me to go back and take the classes to get the degree. The EMT's a bitch though, I took it two years ago and had a 78 in the class but you need an 80 to take the national exam for certification so I gotta do it all over again.

Its true. If you've ever noticed those circular things that they have under the pavement...you can kind of see the outline of them...well those are sensors...not only for cars stopped there...but also for emergency vehicles. I talked to a bunch of SFFD medics who confirmed.

some stop lights are timed....others are sensored.

the timed stop lights are the ones, where no matter if you're the only car at the stop, you have to wait for the lights to go through a cycle. those are the ones i hate with a passion. Usually older traffic lights are the ones that are timed.

I love the sensored stop lights though. whichever car approaches first(say during the night or where there's only a few cars). THe car that made the stop first will get the green light. These traffic signals are more common in newer development areas or at an intersection where new traffic signals have been installed.

u always learn something new on the sicc... I know in Glen Cove, when I drive down Glen Cove Rd. right by the elementary school, it's sensored. I've experimented numerous times. There's a hill that kinda curves down and everybody starts off fast at the top and starts braking halfway down the hill, fuckin' their brakes up and everything, but I start off slow at the top, let them pass me (2 lane) and get their first... Put my shit in neutral and coast through the light every time. I haven't waited 4 a red there @ that light in 4ever.
*Correction: @ night.

O, and FUCK TIMED LIGHTS.
especially when you're the only car around and you have to wait for the fuckin' thing to switch. I makes me feel like an idiot. Then, sometimes, the go*damned things take so long that I start wondering if I'm on a hidden camera show or something.

I used to work for a company who made underwater cameras and I took a handle with remote buttons / functions on it.

I put some new batteries in it and took it out for a ride. I would point it at the stop light and shit would change hella quick, from yellow, red and back to green with the quickness LOL!!!! Of course, you had to still stop due to cars who were left in the middle of the intersection when the light switched LOL!!!!

I might still have that little handle laying around somewhere. If I find it, I'll shoot a picture and put it up on here.

In retro to what discuss650, stated...I feel ya Brugh. I hate lagging lights and yes, I ran a few after being there for about 90 seconds fuck it, can't say I didn't stop.

okay so we can put all these myths to rest.. i found out that only strobes in fire trucks can change the lights.. it has to do with a specific frequency.. real specific that u cant duplicate. And ambulances dont have them because theyre private.. theres no state agency.
