the single player version is better than gow 2's single player, just because this shits expansive as fuck and theres alot to do at one time, but it dosent get tiring or overwhelming...im like 5-6 hours into it tho i dont know how long it is in comparison to gow2 but its better just based on the phyics engine alone...breaking shit in this game is fun...gow2s single player mode was a great storyline and buildup and plot but the levels were easy as fuck..unless its on insane...
so far, my opinion might change, its not better online wise than gow2. gow2 is a true test of skill on the sticks when it comes to third player shit. they left alot of shit out in this game...one its too easy to kill people....i suppose thats 'realistic' but its what i hate about cod...theres an absence of headshots due to that easy kill thing...i think they coulda done better detail with a few of the guns and gave them more character...some of them are sick and some are gay..and i dunno if you can but you should be able to crouch...besides that i think it makes up for it in imagination...you cant really hide much in this game because if youre hiding behind a wall someoen can just take out the wall.....its fun as fuck and i can see myself playing it often online but only problem online is theres a severe mitchmatch in skill right now...some people know where all the guns are , some people dont know what the fuck theyre doing cuz the games new and others are learning...i mean thats expected but when i got gow2 and i got it when it came out, it seemed everyone was more educated on it. i dunno. theres alot of people in multiplayer just breaking buildings for no apparent reason other than it looking cool
i dunno what game i should buy next...im slowly getting into fable 2 now...i think i need a sports game...prolly fight night 4...
I gotta disagree with you on a few things gas..
First off i think Gears Of War 2 has a better single player, only because i'am a fan of story-telling when i'm playing a campaign mode.. I know Red Faction's got a story, but it's not no Gears Of War 2 with Gear's blockbuster cut-scenes and plot twists, both things Red Faction is lacking in.. With that said, Red Faction's single player is still awsome as fuck, and hella fun to play, i just dont find it that rewarding because as you progress the story never really changes.. I can still sit there for hours upon hours playing the shit out of the campaign mode tho jus because it's so fun to smash down buildings and unlock new guns haha
As for Red Faction's multiplayer i think it's shittin all over Gears.. First off (my number one complaint with Gears 2) it dosn't lag!! Finnaly a game that is lag free.. Along with that there isn't any overpowered host, and there's not teammates dropping left and right when you start loseing.. I also think Red Faction's got a better weapon selection then Gears Of War 2 (i think it's got maybe twice the weapons Gears does) and imo all the gun's seem balanced and well thought out.. You might need to play the game a little bit more to figure out what some of the gun's do different then the others.. Like the enforcer and the rail gun, it took me a good minute 'till i actually found out the enforcer track's down targets and that the rail gun can shoot thru walls.. A lot of creativity went into those gun's.. I mean look at the nano rifle, where else you gonna find a gun that manipulates cell's and disintegrates people? Then theres the saw blade gun, that thing whoops ass once u get good at it.. Then theres the backpack's which i think are probably one of the most coolest and unique feature i've ever seen in a multiplayer game, they all are very balanced and which one you use really depends on you're playing type.
I really don't see a mitchmatch in skill either.. I've been playing the game since the day it came out and i still get owned by people with blue stripes all the time.. I will admit that i've probably got the maps more memorized then someone else might, but this game makes it very easy for newer players to hop right in and get the hang of it, which is not something i can say about Gears.. Plus, there's always gonna be idiots who jus run around and do nothing but bust up buildings and get owned.. Shit, there's people on Gears who jus sit and spawn camp even tho they get owned everytime lol.. Always gonna be idiots no matter what game you play.
As for it being to easy to die once again i'd have to disagree.. In Gears Of War 2 it can take one shotgun shot to kill you, while sometimes you can shoot somebody 20 times with the shotgun and not do shit to 'em.. Plus if you got a backpack on that'll aid you in fleeing or attacking and help you live a little bit longer.. And it's just like Gears Of War 2 when you shoot someone in the head they die (actually this games more accurate with headshots sometimes ill cap someone in the head 10 times with the longshot on gears and it wont pop 'em.) It's all about skill, the better you are the more tricks you learn on how to stay alive and how to kill people.. Like if you have the rhino backpack on you won't take damage while chargeing.. So if i know im about to die and have the rhino backpack on i'll hit the left bumper and charge myself behind cover and even if im shot in the head i wont die.. Then i'll run away like a little bitch, hide behind some corner and try to regain some health, and if they try to chase after me then i'll nail 'em on the head wit' my sledgehammer.
The game modes are funner too.. The only creative game mode i think Gears Of War 2 offered was Submission.. Every other mode seemed very generic.. But with Red Faction where else are you gonna find modes like Siege and Damage Control? Those are modes that ONLY Red Faction would be able to pull off.. Like i said before.. I think Gears Of War 2 is an awsome game and once you get good at it it get's really addicting, but also really aggravating (with host, lag, and not being able to respawn.) But Red Faction is just way more fun and innovating, and it takes itself a lot less serious then Gears Of War 2 does.
