if people played there part and made quality music all the time, people in high positions would take artist and the region more seriously
Yes...I fully agree. The problem is that there is so much bullshit being put in the higher ups faces that the quality shit can fall through the cracks. There is talent out here, but there is A LOT of shitty artist trying to find the next thing to latch onto and milk into the ground since the needed death of Hyphy music.

Man amongst all the bullshit music out here, there is alot of good music also........KMEL is sorry, 94.9 at least did yellow bus radio but they are not excused.......Sure Kmel has played bay music many times before.......But they need to throw in some of the bays music....and put it in the same rotation as all that commercial garbage......We get little love from our own.......

Almost all them people u said right now have radio ready songs that get played once or twice a day. I know thats not enough to build a buzz. Jacka got in rotation I think cause he made a song everybody could vibe to and not just the hoods. In my opinion the talent is there but there making the wrong songs. Make a song that everybody can vibe to and u will get that radio play u need.

The thing I noticed is that these artists/labels try to make these songs for the radio and then they're not prepared to capitalize off of it, if they do in fact get some good spins. Have a plan in place for yourself/company if you do get a song to blow up on radio. Don't expect anyone to come to you, just cause you get on the radio doesn't mean you should stop grinding, if anything, it should get you out there on the streets harder knowing that the public is responding to your product.

welcome to 5 years ago. kmel aint gonna do it. and besides jacka's street album is at 1600 units soundscan and he had a single on the radio in full rotation. thats the problem. von shows us love and then the fans and what not fail the artist. evryone on jacka dick but aint nobody buy the record. why you think von or who ever up there should give the bay area artist a grip of spins when every time they do the fans dont bum rush the stores and support the artist to make them bigger? radio is a business and there is no point to help an artist when it doesnt translate into money. time is money on the radio. and when you aint turning it around and bringing it back, your song is a waste of bay area radio time.

SO ALL STARVING ARTISTS CAN THANK THE FANS FOR NOT SUPPORTING THE ALBUMS AND NOT BUYING THE MUSIC. THATS WHY WE GET NO PLAY. IT AINT JUST VON AND SCOTTY FOX.

MESSY MARV DRAPED UP & CHIPP 556 444 5,311

JACKA STREET ALBUM 368 194 1,613

KEAK DA SNEAK & SAN QUINN WELCOME TO SCOKLAND 322 358 4,455

1st number is the sales this week, 2nd number is sales last week, and last number is total for the album.

YOU TAKE THOSE NUMBERS AND SET THEM SIDE BY SIDE WITH ANY OTHER ARTIST OUTSIDE OF THE BAY ON ANY LEVEL AND YOU WILL SEE WHY THE BAY GETS ZERO LOVE ON THE RADIO AND THE OUTSIDERS GET LOVE.

its not rocket science. i want to hear the bay on the radio, but it wont happen til we get the fans back on our side and push like it used to.

real spit!! there is a disconnect between the streets and the bay industry and it is hard for artist to reach that phenom level with a 50-80 thousand sound scanned album

man, the streets can stop listening, they dont care. remember back in the early/mid 90's? KMEL was raw, then they stopped playing local shit.you know who was the only mothafuckas bitchin? local rap artists and local rap fans.they care about the mainstream, cus its "mainstream".aint nothin wrong with that, its business.they have no obligation to play no body cus they from any where.and lets be real, what artists are getting the most requests?

if you own a grocery store and you got all these local cats tryna sell there bbq sauce in your store, are you obligated to sell it?

if you cant get on the radio then take another avenue to get heard.........

this isnt directed towards anybodys specifically but remember the days before burned cd's and myspace and even siccness? when cats still werent getting on the radio? they was out there grinding real hard and spending money on promo tapes to give away.........i've bought many albums cus i got a free promo tape.im just sayin,excuses...........theres ways..........

Dutch what's a good number fam?

I think artist should hit the streets harder and Im not talking about only in the hood. I know we wall love or hoods but the hood don't buy cds. I have heard so many times out of people mouth Im not going to buy that shit. Im bout to get it of the net and they say it proudly and these is hood dudes. We as artist need to hit these suburban areas and pass out flyers cds and promote or self to a crowd that still buys cds(They bootleg also but not as much). If it's online then press up 20,000 flyers and pass them shits out telling people where to buy your new album. Talk to people to let them know your a coo dude. Cats aren't out there no more pumping they own shit up. Artist want to do a show with a 100 people and give them flyers thinking thats promotion. Thats not promotion I call that stage practice so what if you got paid. That's nothing but a small crumb to the puzzle. Just Imaging if you got out there with flyers yourself with you street team and passes out flyers and told people your story. All this foot work will get you radio play and units sold.
