What I dont understand is..the criteria to get picked to PLAY on the All-Star team. You have to be good AND be ona good team? What if you score 30 a game but are on a team well below .500?Does that make him NOT a good skilled b-ball player??

The line between a GREAT player...and a difference maker..is so fuckin thin these days.

In the NFL...you go to the Pro Bowl if you had a great year...whether you played for the Texans or the Steelers.Same in Baseball...so what gives?

In NBA and NFL the MVP is awarded to the guy who made thier team a winning club....right?Yet in MLB...it goes to the best player..PERIOD.

They need to pick the definition for ALL the sports and stick to it.

Ray Allen NUMNERS WISE...deserves to be there. And NUMBERS WISE...2 of the 4 Pistons SHOULDNT be there...or better said...could have left spots open for OTHERS with better numbers.
Numbers ain't shit though.. If Rip was on the Sonics or some shitty team liek that he'd be putting up 30 a game.. When Stackhouse was on the Pistons, one season he put up 30 points a game.. We won 32 games that year.. he made the allstar team. Next season, he put up 21 pts a game... we won 50. Your stats are WAY inflated when you are on a shitty team. Michael Redd is definitely not a better player than Rip. You have Redd, who is his teams go-to guy, who has never really led his team anywhere and Rip has gone to two NBA finals, and is probably the primary scoring option on the team, but that still means he gets way less attempts than Redd does. Only so many people can take shots. Rip is shooting 50% from the field this year, and 45% from the 3pt line. Redd is shooting 44% total, with 40% 3Pt accuracy. Redd doesn't defer to anybody, ever on that team.. Rip will defer to Billups a lot of times, especially if the game is on the line.

Any Piston starter, besides Big Ben, is capable of putting up 30 on any given night. But, they don't focus on individual stats, and that's why they are so good.

Chauncey could score 30 points a game easily, but he chooses to pass to his teammates, and create buckets for them, so he scores about 19 and 8. I'd rather have 19 and 8 then 30 pts. Rip is the best shooter in the NBA, this season. Shooting over 50% from the 2-pt, which is normally only mid range 15 footers, and he's shooting 45% from the three, which is third in the league. If he took ten more shots a game, which he would if he were playing on one of the shitty teams in the league, he'd be putting up 27+ easily.

Tayshaun would be a 20+ scorer on almost any other team in the league. If he was on the Nuggets, he'd be putting up WAY better stats than Carmelo. I'd take Tay over Carmelo any day of the week. Offensively, they are pretty much the same player, if you look at percentages, but Tay is a HELLUVA lot better on defense. Can't be compared on that side of the ball. Tay is the Pistons' number four option on offense, so he doesn't put up huge numbers. But, he is capable to do on any night if Rip or Billups are off. Tayshaun's averaging about 8 or 9 shots less than Carmelo a game, and he isn't really aggressive in the Pistons' offense. He probably never will put up the number's that he's capable of putting up since him and Rip are both tied up longterm with the team.

And, it was either Rasheed or Dwight Howard for the PF spot, and you can't really argue at all that Rasheed should go. Rasheed doesn't put up the numbers that howard does, because The Orlando offense is focused around Howard, and Detroit's isn't. But, Rasheed is a lot better at defense compared to Howard. He sets up all of Ben's plays. Ben would suffer a lot without Rasheed.

Rasheed and Howard matched up one on one today, and Rasheed ouplayed him (and his team won).. Rasheed put up 26 pts, 9 rebounds and 2 blks. Howard put up 19 pts, 17 rebs and 3 blocks. But, Howard had like 12 and 12 after the first quarter, and the Pistons shut him down after that.. And Rasheed did terrible the first quarter. So, for three quarters, the Pistons pretty much held Howard to 7 pts and 5 rebs.

The only player who I thought got snubbed from the East was Areans, but he got put back on the team.

But, I think that Allen deserves to be on the allstar team over Davis or Richardson. Carmelo was probably the biggest snub, but I'm not a big fan of his game, at all.. And he's a whiny bitch, so I'm happy.

^^^ I feel what youre sayin...but Allen on any other team would still be Allen...he takes control of games...he has Rashard and now Luke is becoming an offensive threat..and Flip when he decides to shoot well...

With that said...i DONT think Tay would be a go to guy on a team where HE is the best player...he needs others around him to spark it...he dont drive real well...and hes more like a Keirlenko than anything...lengthy and pesky.Yet AK-47 is the nucleaus of the Jazz...and he aint puttin up super numbers...

My point is...Detroit has good CHEMISTRY...could anyone of these players thrive OUTSIDE of Detroit at THIS point in THEIR careers?Ill say that Rip can and MAYBE Chauncy....but Tay and Rasheed?Uh uh....Rasheed aint the player he was at ALL 5 yearsd ago...and thats just age.He could NOT cary a team like Garnett could...or even an Elton for that matter...

Detroit is well coached and well disciplined....and the chemistry is unmatched...

Melo is averaging more points and is shooting a better percentage from the field than Ray Allen this year. Couple that with the fact that the Nuggets have a better record than the Sonics this year and you have someone (Melo) who should be on the All-Star Team instead of Ray Allen.

Tay reminds me a lot of Shawn Marion.. Not as good, but more like a poor-man's Marion..

Scottie Pippen in one of the ESPN things, said Tay reminded him more of himself than any other player... But, he's more of a poorman's Scottie. If he was with Kobe, they could do some serious damage.

Chauncey is the best player on the team. He carries the team, and wins almost all the games for them.. I don't like Larry Brown, but Larry made Chauncey one hell of a point guard, and now that he doesn't have Larry's limits around him anymore, he is unbelievable.

He's turned into a great passer, already being one of the best 3pt shooters in the league, and the first or second most clutch player in the league. The guy always takes over late in games, and he always shows up in important games.

If Rasheed didn't leave Horry wide open to double team Ginobili or whoever he did it with last year in the finals, Billups would be two time Finals MVP. He always shows up in those big type games.

And, I agree, Rasheed isn't the player offensively that he used to be, but a lot of it is because he doesn't want to be. He has said he doesn't want to be the go-to guy on the team. He said it after today's game. But, defensively, he's better than he's ever been. If you watch the games, he's usually the guy guarding KG, Duncan, Howard, and all the good PF's and Centers.. The only Center I think Ben guards more is Shaq.. What makes Ben and Sheed perfect together is the fact that Sheed is a lockdown post man player, while Ben comes over from the weakside with help, most of the time.

But, I'd be retarded if I said Sheed was better than Brand or KG or any of the west reserves at PF.. I just think he's better than Howard right now, but in two years? Howard's going to be the best PF in the league.

I love watching you morons compare point guards and small forwards, with the NBA's premier "jumpshooting/scoring" 2 guard.Richardson can stick to the dunk contest....his game is wack.Arenas only made it cuz someone dropped out.

As far as J Rich goes - Averaging 23 a game in the league is wack, eh?

Interesting ...
