Is this somethign you've noticed in mainstream or bay rap? because I hella have not noticed this lol.
Both, I listen to music from all over so im speaking about the average of all the new music currently out if you were to listen to a selection of each area. I hear alot of "no name (because they are not known, not cuz they are weak)" bay cats that i randomly see on youtube or randomly posted songs from various sites (siccness, bay on top, futureproducers, list can keep going) and these fools sound like fake wanna be "major rappers". They look and sound like a main stream rapper, and even say bars the way a main stream rapper is "supposed" to say, but that shit still comes off as fake. Niggas come off more like models of rappers than rappers. So it sounds like its "on" but that shit is hella generic. Thats why joints people been puttin out are only "cool" and not "hot".
I feel like that E-40/Short joint is the only authentically new hit to come from the bay since some of the original hyphy joints from that era and the Jackas radio singles. It dont sound like its attempting to follow any kind of trend or anything. Its a dope song. Its not a "club song" that was written to specifically appeal to the clubs like i know most rap niggas do when they try to make that "club joint/for the ladies" song. Its just a dope song. and dope songs get play everywhere. I think if we make more original shit and stop tryna copy, shit will sound way better.
