So I first heard of this band called A Place to Bury Strangers back in 2007 when blogs were going crazy about their self titled release and they were being hailed as New York City's "loudest band." I downloaded the album and while I thought it was pretty good I didn't see what all the hype was about. About two weeks ago I saw their new album Exploding Head which comes out Oct 6th had leaked on the net so I thought I'd give it a listen to. Now if this was the album everyone was hyping a couple years ago it would deserve all the attention it gets. This album fucking shreds from front to back. It's like a mix of garage rock and shoegaze but if shoegaze wasn't slow paced if that makes any sense. I'll def be picking this album up when it comes out.

Yeah, I was going to say they sound 80ish but not "dated" at all, but I didn't think that would make much sense lol.

Personally I think the "staticy" sounding guitars and some of the drumming sounds garage rockish to me but whatever, this album rules. I'm going to have to give their first album another try seeing I only gave it a few spins before kind of dismissing it as just alright.
