Rakim Speaks on Em
Monday - December 5, 2005
J-23
In a recent interview for foreign television, Rakim was asked what he thought about Eminem, his former label mate. The man who is often referred to as the God Emcee and regularly called the greatest of all-time, made some very flattering remarks about Slim.

”Eminem is nasty man, I don’t care what color he is. I don’t care about none of that nahmean? Real artists respect real artist’s man. Especially like a conscious artist that sits down and writes and hears another artist that sits down and does his writing…and he know…a brother nasty. Regardless, you can’t take nothing away from his thoughts and his pen, nahmean? Em is nasty man, I tell people to this day…if Em was black…he’d be the next Muhammad Ali man.”

The R saying Em would be the G.O.A.T. if he had some melanin? Let the debates rage!!

i dunno, i think at this point it doesnt matter for eminem...i think that most of his exposure was from him being white and talented in the first place...so i dunno what hes thinking..the sad thing is like, if he was black, he'd be 1 in 100...look at people like royce da 5 9 and jae millz and shit, real talented verbal artist that dont get full recognition.

Em used to be one of the artists I used to check for on the regular but since his last album he's completely dropped off my radar, he's straight garbage now. He knows it too that's why he's hanging it up and saying his career is in question...

Eminem is good, very good and talented even if i got none of his album (don't ask me why...).

i can't understand how is it possible to hate on Eminem...

he is good when it comes :

to rap
to freestyle
to produce (even if we can debate on that...)
to own a record label
to make great performance live on stage

many rappers are often only able to rap...
Eminem got multiple skills so he got many haters...

Nigga you trippen Rakim is a legend.

Em got flow and thats all you need in the rap game, Real Talk.
no my friend, you trippin, i was playin on rakims words man, chill. and as far as only needing flow, wtf, yur fuckin stupid, yur sayin a guy can make a song about absolute garbage, but have a tight ass flow, and youll think its a hard track. you cant even call yurself a rap fan. call yurself a flow fan from now on, it fits you better.

and as far as hating on em, shure he can write lyrics, but his content hasnt been on point since slim shady lp. hes nothing but a publicity stunt now days. i dont deny he has talent, but he aint the closest thing to a "real artist". if he was real he wouldnt be making this shitty music to have more zeros on his checks

^^^If by selling out you mean being successful then I guess you are right.^^^

I've never heard Em rap about jewels or cars or any of that materialistic BS...EVER.

How can you say he sold out...? His formula was exaclty the same EVERY CD...c'mon man are you listening ?

Ems second CD was tight, had a lot a good shit on there. Also he had Dre show him the light.....anyone ever listen to Ems first CD before he started getting production from Dre? Is his style the same, or even the lyrical content?

just saying cause Dre can make someone a lot tighter than they really are
