i dont even have to boycott cuz no matter what i dont slump kmel nor do i even think about 94.9.. them shits is not even on the level of my type of music that im into, cuz i know for damn sure its always going to be the regular bullshit POP/GLAM-RAP thats been pollutin the airwaves since the mid to late 90's to present day, now back in the day in 94 and some parts of 95 when they used to play JT the Bigga Figga, Celly Cell, E-40, RBL, Rappin 4-tay, 3 times, dru down and a whole bunch of other locals them stations were sicc, well except 94.9 which was 107.7, they always have that gay ass house shit comin out of san jose....

the only radio station i even listen too when i dont have my cds in my car is KBLX and that other jazz station 103.7(i think thats the frequency).............

I wanted to put it out there if we make noise loud enough we will be heard don't say it can't be done it starts with us then spreads. I talked to like thirty people today who swore me they wouldn't bump the radio male and female alike and I'll continue because my word is my bond I said I'm boycotting and i am!

If all of us refuse to lose we won't! I'm telling family friends etc. to support the shit and watch what happens if you get countless muthafuckas to back something like this it could ber huge!!

LA does NOT have good radio stations. Someone lied to you Moe. LA plays a lot of LA rap because a lot of it is really commerical, but they play just as much Jay Z, Nelly and Ja Rule..

The only thing I'll give 'em is the Pocos Pero Locos show on Sunday nights where they play all independent "Chicano" rap and feature the artists on the show regularly. It's just too bad I can't stand to hear cholos rap over the same oldie beat 100 times..

The radio is meant for the mainstream. The demographic you're seaking is not the mainstream..

^^^^^^^^ True Vamps but the point your missing is the chains are not ordering product unless its getting played on the radio . I'm not saying boycott so we can get played but if enough people boycott sign petitions then the chains see that there a hella of alot more people who like this underground shit and that their missing out a a fucken hughe ass market.

That's why i said lets make some noise with it.

It just seems that people talk a bunch of bullshit but when I posted this post muthafuckas still haven't got my back thats why the west coast is going down the fucken drain because we talk and never do!!

I aint mad at them East Coast kats at least they stick together or at least they stuck together long enough to make sure we were fucked!

B-12, new to this BART but what kind of boycott actions where they going to do to KMEL back when they where playing 24-7 mainstream music? Was it just KMEL or the whole mainstream radio stations in the West Coast?

i cant even recall bro. But if you look at KMEL's playlists now they made the move on their own with the support of cats like chuck from done deal, big von, scotty fox etc. Alot of Bay shit that has value is getting played. Period.

b-12, i don't know bout dat. but i noticed that when the Bay start getting united to get played on the radio, KMEL starts getting scared and jumps on the bandwagon. I remember when there was a time when they didn't give a time of day for Bay music and people had to start their own radio shows cuz of that. When the new Bay Music radio shows started to pop up, KMEL started to trip on a serious tip. I remember them clownin' on Oakland's 92.7(now defunct) for no apparent reason just because they were playing Bay music.

Only way to boycott is just like they said b4, rally in front of KMEL. But it gotta be a big event. Then maybe something will take place, but don't hold your breath. Wuts up to Chuy and Scotty Fox. Get that money baby!!!!

Cipher: Its hard enough for me to handle my own affairs so I cant really pay attention to wahts going on at radio. If someone doesnt like what radio is playing that dont have to listen. I only play my own CD's. I dont listen to radio. Maybe KMEL responsded to 92.7 maybe they didnt. I know that aint nobody playin my artists because we dont have any HITS yet. Thats how it works. If you have bonafied hits, they will play your shit. The Team, Frontline, and Keak are proof of that.

B-12, actually, KMEL str8 went savage on 92.7,mayn. Does anybody here got old KMEL commercial MP3 of them battlin it out with 92.7? If anybody want to read the whole story of how Clear Channel's KMEL put Oakland's 92.7 out of business, click on the link below of how competitive mainstream radio go to put Bay Rap stations in their place:

it takes somethingbig and out there for a station to play local shit.KWIN over here in Stockton started having Talent Tuesdays showcasing local talent.it started with just local stockton acts, then 209 shit now they playin cats in Nor Cal.they even played Matai's sister a few weeks back..............

it started cus a few years back, the stockton Record (news paper) had a 3 day expose on stockton hip hop.each day was about 5-7 full pages long so it got a lot of attention.damn near every artist from here that was interviewed put KWIN on blast for not playing local shit.they fired back and said they have no obligation to play local shit, but about 2 weeks after the articles, they started Talent Tuesdays..........and its at 7-8 am,peak hours..........
