I hate it when people mistake there bad music buisness actions for HATE. There is a protocal if your are trying to get your music played on 94.9 or 106. It is a buisness not a JUKE BOX. Try and put yourself in such a position they have to play you.. Having Dope music is not good enough thats where it starts. Your Label / Artist / Song & Album all must have an evolving story of interest. Worry about becoming famous before you worry about everyone believeing that your dope. Please don't listen to people that are unsuccessful at getting songs played on comercial radio you should listen to those who are successful at doing just that. No Sales Dude that works there, not a street team dude. Talk to the DJ's yourself. Please understand these DJ's are on the top stations in the #4 market in the country this is not Alabama or Kananas. So treat it like that. You can not run up on someone the first time u meet or see someone and think they are going to love you off the bat.. Try and get to know these cats that make the power decisoins before you tell them they have to play your DOPE ASS RECORD...

But enough of that.. The bottom line is hardly anyone in this music game approaches radio the right way or with the right info. Its like wearing a WIFE BEATER & CUT OFF SHORTS to a BLACK TIE AFFAIR.. Quit waiting for the radio to make you famous. That is the problem. The streets ultimetely decide what the radio plays and don't play.. Emails / Request / Research..

Sound business sense is what is lacking in the independent market all over the country. But even with the right approach, right song, right everything, radio is near impossible to crack without knowing the right people.

I guess that's where getting to know the DJs comes in, but what ever happenned to good music prevailing over ass-kissing?

so true. build your name on every turf in the bay and watch the radio call you. tell you they keep hearing about you and can you make a drop and a radio edit. but many dudes don't grind that hard. 5,000 flyers, a 1,000 promo's and a couple of t-shirts ain't gonna get it done. the metro area of the bay is millions and you can't make a dent in your neighborhood like that. everybody talk about they in 'the streets' or 'hard on the grind'. but very few really are
