I hope Dallas wins it.. But, I really don't care..

I wouldn't mind the Red Wings, even though I dislike them.. I'd like to see them go just because it'd be cool to have the MLB All-Star game, Superbowl, NBA Finals (Pistons are gonna make it atleast there, no competition at all in the East, it's a lock) and the NHL Finals all in Detroit..

But, I'd like to see Dallas win it, just because, they are cooler, even though I don't give a shit about hockey.

The Sharks have a reasonable chance. They're definately one of the top 3 teams in the west (with Dallas and Detroit), but I have a hunch Dallas is going to win the west and the finals. In order to win, the Sharks just need to play more physical, while at the same time taking less penalties. Ville Nieminen needs to step up his game, too, and be a pest to the other team instead of taking dumb penalties (look at what he did for Calgary 2 years ago).

All-in-all, I'm rooting for Ottawa, though. But they'll probably choke like they do every year.

Ok so they are doing good against Dallas and should win this series, but I doubt they get much further than round 2. I hope they do, but with what they showed as a team this year I highky doubt they do much damage after round 1

HOLY SHIT! I am amazed at what has happened in the first round. I obviously did not expect Dallas to be knocked off as quickly, and with as much ease as they were, and we should all be thankful Edmonton beat Detroit earlier..it makes things much easier in the west (especially for you Sharks fans).

I'm still rooting for Ottawa, but of all the other teams, I'd like to see the Sharks win. They're definately playing better and more consistent every single period than any other team right now..and I can't completely turn my back on a team from the bay.

By the way, if anyone's watching that Anaheim-Calgary game, that disallowed goal by Selanne and the resulting penalty was the worst call of the entire NHL season. The ref who made that call should be cut from the playoffs.

Ya, but the refs made up for it later in the game. We got way more Power Plays than we deserved.

Game 7!!!!

That was a great game. I'm still very new to the NHL so I ain't really up on what's a bad call and what not, but the broadcasters kept saying how the Ducks should've gotten more power plays than they were getting due to Calgary's dirtiness.

I think there should be less penalties in general. The "new" NHL has waaay too many penalties. If I'm not mistaken, most of the goals scored in the playoffs have been powerplay goals, which should not be. There should be next to zero penalties called, especially in the third period and overtime..only for serious penalties like high sticking, slashing, boarding, etc. There should never be a hooking or holding penalty with 3 minutes left in the game unless it's totally blatant. If one team gets away with little things like that, the other team will match it, and the game will be even. But no team is going to retaliate a high stick with another. I HATE PENALTIES!!!!

^^Couldn't disagree more. Penaties need to be called wether it's the first minute of the first period or the last minute of the 3rd OT. A simple hook or slash can prevent a possible goal. During the season the Sharks were one of the least penalized teams because they had smarts and control. Nashville (WHO LOST TO THE SHARKS) was one of the most penalized. They play dirtier, they deserve the penalty, and the possible power play goal against. You can make great defense plays and big hits that are by the book.

Also wondering: If calgary gets eliminated, all 4 of the top 4 seeds would be gone. Has this ever happened before?
