Here's the article...they are makin it sound like a fight in 'the family', not sure if they mean 'Muslim" or "Bey" family.

OAKLAND -- The son of the late Muslim leader Yusuf Bey was killed 'assassination style' Tuesday evening as he pumped gas at an Oakland filling station.

The shooting was one of five from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on a violent night on Oakland streets. Police said they do not know if any of the shootings were related.

Oakland homicide investigators said that Antar Bey -- who succeeded his father as leader of his family's business interests -- was filling up at a gas station at 55th and Martin Luther King Way at about 7:30 last night.

He stepped away from his car to talk on his cell phone and was shot 'assassination style.' Bey -- who has escaped two other shooting attempts in recent weeks -- was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Antar's death was the third shooting involving family members since the controversial Yusuf Bey succumbed to cancer in 2003.

Waajid Aljawaad Bey, 51, was found buried in a shallow grave in the Oakland hills in July 2004 in an unsolved homicide. While Yusuf Bey's adopted son -- John -- was seriously wounded last summer in an ambush at his Montclair area home.

Police were not commenting early Wednesday on the case, but newspaper reports say the shootings may be the product of a power struggle to control the family's various business interests.

Yusuf Bey lost his battle with colon cancer in 2003 at the age of 67. At the time, he was on trial in Alameda County Superior Court on charges he sexually assaulted four women.

He was one of the most well-known and controversial Muslim leaders in the Bay Area.

Born H. Stephens of Greenville, Texas, the elder Bey discovered the teachings of Nation of Islam founder Elijah Muhammad in his late 20s and became Yusuf Bey at age 30. He moved to California where he eventually became the founder and chief executive of Your Black Muslim Bakery -- a chain of successful Oakland bakeries.

He also formed a security business and a Muslim school and produced a weekly TV program. In 1994, he unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Oakland.

What is the difference between Black Muslims and The Nation of Islam? It all derives from the same source...right? Dr.Bay was once in the Nation and they believed in the same god and his teachings were derived from that of Elijah Muhammed...right?

May God have mercy on Mr. Bey. On the subject of the NOI and black muslims, Black muslims or muslims period practice true islam, islam the way the prophet s.a.w practiced it and the way the majority of the muslims practice it to this day. When it comes to the nation of Islam its full of things that the prophet s.a.w never practiced and never preached the Quran which is the Holy book in Islam is the same in all sects but the things that seperate the true Islam and NOI is basically that they say Elijah was a prophet which totally goes against Islam because in Quran it says that Mohammad s.a.w was the seal of the prophets meaning the last(and it says that in Quran, remember theres only been one copy of the Quran for over 1400 years), second they think the white man is the devil and i believe i dont need to go further into that, those are just some of the fake things the nation does. Malcom X may God have mercy on him, saw the real.

In the Nation of Islam

Elijah Muhammad is not considered to be a prophet. He is considered to be a messenger. There is a difference between one who comes with a message and a prophet.

"Devil" is not white skin, it is a negative state of which you lend your mind to. White man is the devil is going off the older doctrines of the nation.

Shoowilla, have you studied in the Nation? or are you getting bits and pieces of info from other sources? You can hit www.noi.org www.finalcall.com and go read message to the Black Man.

RIP Antar Bey Thats a cold thing that happened

DJsincere. You are right, they parted with the Nation, as did Solomon, Clarence 13x, and Wardith Deen Mohammad. Thier roots are in and of the Nation tho. Under the guidance of Elijah Muhammad, not Min. Farrakhan whom Elijah had said would lead the nation in his depature.

Reese in arabic there is Rasool and there is Nabi, a Rasool is a messenger like Mohammad s.a.w, Jesus, Moses, Abraham. Rasool or messanger are the ones who came with a message e.g the Quran, the Bible, the Torah. Nabi means a person sent from God with no new message but to remind the people. And all muslims know and it says it in the Quran that Mohammad s.a.w is the seal of the messangers and prophets. Thats what I know for sure, the other thing about the white man being the devil I actually got from and african american individual but he is not a member of the nation so Allah knows best i apologize if i made a mistake. The bottom line here is that the nation is FULL of innovations and the prohpet warned us of the innovators, those who try to change the religion, but there truth will always be in the Quran and the ahadeeth. Theres no need for me to visit those sites you posted, but if u still dont believe what im saying, i can go ahead and disect some of their teachings.

Reese, Get a Quran? I read and recite the Quran in Arabic, The language of the Quran, it is not a Quran if it is written in English or any other language its a translation, and you cant translate Arabic into English its impossible because some words and phrases cannot be translated to the exact meaning, but shoot me your aim or just hit me up man, it would be cool choppin it up wit you my aim is arabifeecali, and im not very knowledgable on the Bible but i know alot about it more than most, but for a breakdown of the Bible and Quran check out www.islamtomorrow.com check the video section out they break all that stuff down, and the Quran didnt have a message for the blackman its a message to Mankind.

Yea, That was my girl Kelley's cousin. Im trying my best to support her. This is really hard on them and their family.
I was watching Brother Cornell West speak last night, and the question came up on how he felt about being a voice for the people and how dangerous that is. He said there are people put here on this earth that live to die for the people, this fight for truth and freedom is way more then just themselves its for everyone in the community everyone down for the same cause. So when it is time for them to die they are ready....because thats what comes with the territory. Brother Bey will go down in our history along with Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Tupac, Huey P and so many other soldiers that chose this life of change.
Much respect and love, we have to continue the fight peace Dub
