Question regarding Pre-Admission Questionnaire to Hospital:

I'm filling out a pre-admission questionnaire, as the due date for my child is in a few weeks, and notice, halfway down the page, in between the space for my address, city, state, zipcode, and marital status, maiden name, employer, and thier info...

There's a big, fat, space labeled ''RELIGION''...

Not that it really matters...but what's the point of this?

There are certain medical considerations that go into a patient's religion. Some things are ok for some religions and some things aren't. It also figures into how some hospitals interact with you as for example muslim women would prefer only female doctors, strict jews have certain preferences, etc.

For us, it doesn't matter...
