http://www.illustratorworld.com/index.shtml this isnt must on tutorials but it gives you an idea on what you can do... illustrator allows you to do any vector design and size and is alot more flexible. most people do logo's in photoshop and the cant be sized up or edited to well. in illustrator you can edit much easier. im learing it now if i find how to do the vector's il shoot the link. over all vetor has no limits to what it can do. lata

well from what i seen u use the pen tool, but its not a 1-2-3 type thing, my homie did a real quick human eye it n it looked all easy to do, when I tried to make it I couldn't get close, shit takes a lot of practise makin lines wit the pen tool...ofcourse there is more, but thats the main thing 2 it

You take a real picture and you trace a vector over it, all the shading comes from the real picture, it is traced. It's hard to explain but, basically to do them nicely, it just takes a load of practice like anything else, and ofcourse some artistic (but not much) ability as for example, being able to draw. If you can draw real good then you have it done, but if you can't then it takes even more practice. Plus a lot of people use Tablets, other's use just their mouse, these also are important factors.

I don't think it takes less ability, but it takes more of an eye for colors and patterns. Basically when vectoring you're working with a smaller color pallete. When done right like that dude always be doin on here ( UC arts?) it looks tight as hell. And if you're in PS, the pen tool works real good. The edges are sharper than trying to use a brush.

a vector image is an image built up by points and lines...
a reastr image is an image built up of dots or pixels...

to make a vector image all you have to do is make the picture using a vector program, such as Illustrator, Photoshop has some vector tools but when you save the file as a jpg it will rasterize the whole image and you'll lose the vector data...
