I went back readin a lil......There are distributions that are jus regional N some can go national. Like they said^^^^ its the demand that gets national. IF the CD can sell, the stores will order more CDs. IF the CD does no sell, then they will not order more. <---Jus because the 'music store' orders the CD doesnt mean you get payed, it HAS TO SELL N order for you/artist N the distributer to get paid. Because the 'music store' CAN return the ordered CDs. Which means all 3 of you lost money, which iz not good for you N the distributor. Also can lead the 'music store' not wanting to deal with the Distributors- as the Distibutors dont want to deal with you too.
Ive noticed for advices I have read about Distribution, try out a regional distribution 1st, but do your homework N Nfo about how well the Distributors work. yknow will they push your CD on to gettin sold to the 'music store'. So it is your job to promote yourself-get heard-makin a cause of demand of music N other regions.
Example-IF you Bay artists, start to get well known N The Bay, then state of Cali, well known N the whole West Coast, workin you way to Midwest (Houston, Kansas City N Denver), Then nationwide. Thats how you can start off with touring too, you dont need to tour national right away unless, again, if there iz a demand.
IF someone can correct of things are wrong or can add something to it, that would be appreciated even with myself, I jus giving you of what I read N understand.
