question about car speakers

i wanted to add 2 6 1/2" speakers to my existing rear speakers. now these speaker i just put into a box, so it will be resting in the rear back window, do i need to splice into my existing rear speaker wires? i have a repair manuel but that doesnt help for shit, is there any website with diagrams?
