Four Found Dead Inside Vehicle in Southeast Fresno
August 23, 2006 - Three men and one woman were found dead in a quiet Fresno neighborhood on Wednesday. Police say it's a homicide investigation.
The bodies were discovered after 7:00am Wednesday morning near Geary and Garden, a usually calm neighborhood in southeast Fresno.
Police say the victims were Hispanic and were found tied up inside a Jeep Cherokee.
It was a gruesome scene inside the vehicle — a witness says there were four bodies slumped over.
Action News has learned there were three men and one woman, and all of them had been tied up.
"This is not a suspicious death. It is definitely a homicide. All four people were killed," said Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
Fresno police say it is the largest homicide in the city since the Wesson massacre back in 2004, in which nine relatives were murdered.
Chief Dyer doesn't believe the people found in the vehicle were killed were the Jeep was left.
"More likely, the murders occurred somewhere else. And that vehicle was since driven to this location and parked in front of the residence," said Dyer.
Investigators say the vehicle is registered outside of Fresno County. Neighbors reported seeing it in the area in the past several weeks, including Tuesday night.
But, police do not know if anyone in the vehicle made contact with anyone in the neighborhood.
Police say the vehicle the bodies were found in is a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, either green or gray in color, with license plate 5UTC909. If you know anything about the vehicle, or who owns it or may have rode in the vehicle, you are asked to call the Fresno Police Department.
