Q For Charger Fans: What is a "Charger?"

Seattle Sonics got their name b/c of the dominance Boeing had in this area back in the day, they had just come out with some airplane that could make a Sonic Boom, so they named the hoops team the "Seattle Sonics."
Is the Chargers name something along those lines? Or is it just a random nice sports name such as the "Tigers?"

It basically doesnt mean anything, The original owner (Barron Hilton) liked the name because he heard people yelling "CHARGE" while he was watching a USC game. So really it mean to charge or attack, hence the horse logo. Also they use Lightning Bolts which could be attributed as a "CHARGE OF LIGHTNING"
