ive never put out a cd, but I would assume it would be better to do up all your artwork and then take it to staples or kinkos and get them to print it for you. Or better yet, take your artwork and master copy and take it to a cd duplication place that will do everything for you...

yeah of course i'd try to do the most by myself.. more profit. artwork i can cover, and im tryin 2 find out how i can do everything else on my own... i wud assume most ppl get a company 2 make the cases with the front/back cover printed and inserted in there for them. i wud hate 2 do that shit by hand. where do u find one of them companies with good prices?

cd duplication services are cheap. it'll come down to about a dollar or two a disc depending on the type of cd case and how much paper you're using....I'd say your best bet is google, there you can find some dirt cheap place where you send them your masters and they'll send you a big ass box.....doing the shit yourself will be almost as expensive when you think of how much the supplies cost to average consumers like yourself

Firstly finnish your music and mix it right - take your time over that shit - the mixdown process is equally as important as the beats and the vocals, a shitty mix can kill a tight track, and by the same token a good mix can elevate an average track to something better.

Then Master it right - take it to good studio, especially if you recorded and mixed your music in a small home studio, take your shit to a professional engineer to get it soundin right, full and strong, and the bass where it should be

Then get yourself quality lookin full colour artwork, remember presentation counts for a lot for those random buyers who havnt heard the music.

Then get the best quote for your needs from a Pressing Plant. If you are serious about your shit always take it to professionals. Most pressing plants offer 2 options, either glass mastering whereby your master copy is transformed into a mould with a silver layer and replicated from there or the much cheaper CDR Duplication process. Depending on how many you press CDR may be fine for first run Mixtapes but the quality is not as good as the glass master technique (Look at the back of your official CD's - thats why they have that silver back that CDR's dont)

Once you take your music out of the studio and turn it into cds for retail you are competing with billions of other artists, many of them hustlin harder than you could ever imagine, your shit has to look and sound legit if you want people to part with there hard earned cash
