is this a speech class? haha i was nervous as fuck but when you start gettin to know your classmates you get comfortable with it. I remember i had to give a speech in front of a crowd for a presentation and was nervous as fuck. i drank a personal bottle of henn an hour before and did SUPERB!
It's actually for my fire organization class, i have to give a presentation on the process of getting hired as a firefighter, cant read off note cards.. but the plus side of it is that its a group presentation.. theres 4 of us, one dude dropped so its 4 now instead of 5.. about 5-6 minutes each for our presentation.

Public speaking is one of men's largest fears. Believe it or not.
Public Speaking is the number 1 fear for humans, the number 6th fear is death.
true..

we had to take a public speaking class for as one of our college requirement courses...anyway, the more comfortable you are with the topic will allow to become more comfortable speaking about it in front of people..if you dont know what you're talking about or you arent thorough then it can be one of the worst experiences ever..lol..good luck though..try to envision that everyone in the crowd are your friends and try to relax...

ah man. a group presentation!? thats nothing. you shouldnt be nervous off that. I mean just memorize your part of the presentation and practice it.

yeah true, but 5 minutes seems like a long ass time, im gonna try and chew some of that time up by bringing up points on the power point presentation and maybe some pictures of the fire academy. What im trippin off too is that this teacher grades hard, she gave the first group to go a C, and their shit was pretty good.

WHY did she give that group a C? Learn from their mistakes...

Public speaking is one of men's largest fears. Believe it or not.
yup

personally, i always loved talking, explaining, etc.
i'm a people person, and crowd person.

i actually had to get used to it, when i was 13(freshmen) i accidently took a class for seniors, and it was 3 diff. 12 min. essays, and i rocked the last one.

ever since then i been really good at public speaking for any occasion. i go to a dumbshit community college, where i usually know more than the teacher on most particular subjects, and i end up explaining things or asking inquisitive questions to the teacher for about 15-20 min. thats a good way to get used to public speaking, and not caring what people are thinking.

basically, you just gotta realize that everyone is gonna make a judgment but it still is flawed and the less importance you put on unknown judgments the more confident you will feel. PLUS practicing your speech infront of people you know well(family), then friends, then a group of class mates is a great idea. it helps you transition from 'comfort' to 'less comfort'.

unless you are using a lot of facts, i don't suggest using notecards because people tend to get confused looking at them(because they are small), end up reading OFF of them, and end up looking tacky. I would leave my outline of my speech(i've done probably 10-12 long formal speeches throughout h/s and college) and just walk around and go near the podium or desk that has my outline, for a second and remember the next chunk of info i was goign to explain.

So, i'm not sure what you are speaking about, but i would probably walk back to the outline 4-5 times since its 20 min. long (once every 5 min. is a good interval)

=) hopes this helps

I love it.

Heres a good tip you should do.

Be cocky and just think of it as you are telling the people what they NEED to hear, be calm be real and just look for the sexy bitches and give em a smile..

simple.

LOL i did my speech last semester on how to do a Gallbladder flush, i explained how you crap out green rocks LOL..i was having a blast and the grossed out reaction was awesome.

and then my second speech was on yoga, i wore my yoga pants and did some positions lol, i dunno if any of the guys heard me talk.

and my third one was about how me and my man met and fell in love. hehe.

they NEEDED to hear those speeches hehe.
most def. i was the weirdest person lol

I took a speech class a couple years back... I was nervous as hell before that... but it actually helped me out

although last time I had to speak in front of a bunch of people at this big ass anniversary party my parents were throwin I was lightweight nervous cause I hadn't done any type of public speaking in a while... I just took advantage of the open bar before hand

about 7 double crown and coke's later I was feelin good as fuck and not even trippin... I wanted to hold on to the mic all night... lol

also realize that everyone else in the class has fear of public speaking, so they know the anxiety that your going through, just practice, practice and practice and you will do fine.

I've found that 2 things help with public speak..both are mental.

1. Realize that half of your classmates won't be listening to half the shit you say and the other half aren't listening to anything you say. In other words, they're not judging you because they simply don't give a shit. It's not that they don't want to hear your speech, it's that they don't want to hear a speech, so it's impersonal.

2. If they are paying attention, know that they can either sympathize with you, or if they're judging you, ask to yourself, "what the fuck do I care what they think?" I honestly say to myself, "fuck you all" before a speech, just to give my self a mental boost. We're all human, we all get nervous, scared, and we all fuck up. Everyone knows that because you can't escape it.

Hope that helps.

p.s. As I was typing this the background for the text turned from white to black. The fuck's up with that?
