PS3 Question....appreciate any help

I just got my PS3 a month ago and it lets me use the browser and i can log onto the Playstation Network but it wont let me update any of my games (NBA Live, Madden, Rocc Band) or play online until i update my games...
it tells me i need to update then when i try the bar goes to like 12% complete and stays there....the longest i left it updating was 30 minutes and it stayed @ 12%

just wondering if anyone had the same problem or knows how to fix that???

I've had this problem before. Mine would stop at 2% and never move and would eventually give me an error. What worked for me is...
Settings, Network Settings, Media Server Connection=Disable

Really? I think media server is awesome it let's me just stream movies and music from my computer you don't even need to be signed on to PSN which helps cuz I can't sign on ATM.

resistance 2 is a pretty average game and the online is horrible. at least i only borrowed it off someone and didnt buy it
