all of a sudden my ps2 makes this new grinding noise, i guess it speeds up and slows down and just makes this grinding noise as its reading the disc. ive never had this problem before, and when it does this, the game freezes. after a few minutes it unfreezes, but will keep freezing and unfreezing. anyone have this problem? i dont have a cleaner for it or computer duster, right now.

The ps2 quality is a piece of shit... check out www.ps2settlement.com

You can try cleaning it yourself with a q tip dipped in some alcohol and clean the lens. Also clear all the dust with an air compressor while your at it. Worked for me so i can get my madden on...

^^^^am i gonna need anything else? i just have the ps2 by itself.
as long as its still under warranty all you need to do is call them and tell them you are having problems, they should not charge you. my brother has sent his shit in @least 3 times. this last time he had to pay like $45 to get a refurbished one because he didnt want to pay $70 or so to get his fixed. the reason he had to pay is becuz the warranty recently expired and he bought one of the first that came out. so unless you bought one of the first ones to be released you should be alright.

When mine started grinding and stopped reading the discs, I just sold it back to EB for store credit ($80.00), then bought a used "re-furbished" one for $40.00 more

wish i had known about the settlement before that though....
