ps2 not playing discs

it started with XIII, and now san andreas isnt loading. ive cleaned the lense with a cd recently. can I open this fucker up and clean it or something. Any similar expieriences. Thanks.

You want to take your PS2 apart, and open the CD player so you can see the eye. Right below the eye there is a little white "gear" with teeth on it. You want to turn the gear tooth by tooth and check it each time, and finally once you get it lined up correctly, the eye should be lined up, and the game will play.

That's how mine worked at least.

If you send your PS/2 to Sony, expect 6-8 weeks before you get that bitch back.

I was getting the Disc Read Error... I called Sony and they told me it would take about a month or so... So I opened it to try to fix it myself. It didn't work. I had to buy another PS2 because I voided my warranty.

I guess the problem is either a dirty lens or a weak/worn out lens... If it's a worn out lens you can't fix it yourself unless you have a replacement... Either way I think Sony will replace it to prevent it from happening again.
