Problem with microsoft Word

I've never seen or heard of this before and I can't figure out how to solve the problem. Here it is: Every time I open Word, an assignment I wrote in the summer shows up. Even if Word is already open and I try to open a blank document, this paper I wrote comes up instead. In other words, there's no such thing as a blank document. Can anyone help me out on this?

i had that problem with a different program, you may have saved the document as "new". what is the file's name?

I deleted the original document a while ago, but its name was "ethnography progress report" or something like that. is it possible to just reinstall Word or do I have to install the whole windows package?
