Which player could a playoff contender least afford to lose?

Tom Brady,New England

Ray Lewis,Baltimore Ravens

Peyton Manning,Indianapolis Colts

Terrell Owens,Philadelphia Eagles

Michael Vick,Atlanta Falcons

---------------------------------------------------

I chose Vick...but i can see where most folks picked Peyton. But even IF Peyton did go down....they still got weapons...Atlanta doesnt have NEARLY the fire power that the Colts got....

thats a hard poll, I think that if Brady or Lewis or Owens were down it would hurt the least out of the group....I think manning would be the biggest blow to a team followed by Vick...I dont even know who Indy's back up is...cant recall ever seeing him

Good point...but when yo have Harrison,Edge,Dallas,Stokely and Wayne...Hassleback could look good out there...

Now Atlanta...VICK IS THAT TEAM...Duckett and Dunn are inconsistent...for god sakes...VIck leads the team in rushing...lol...wow....

As for Lewis...hes good...but the Ravens got D for DAYS...they can handle it...

Terrell...that might be bigger than some think...well see...

You're basically just naming all the players who are 1. Eligible to catch the ball on the team, and 2. are having good seasons (which is everyone capable of catching the ball). The only players out of that bunch that you can be sure will play well on another, subpar team is Harrison, Edge, and probably Wayne. Brandon Stokley? Not to knock this guys tallent or anything, but prior to this year his season high for reception yards is 357 with Baltimore. Low and behold, after 4 years with the Ravens, and in his second with the Colts, he almost cracks 1,000 yards with a pair of games left in the season. I mean, How many wide-outs did Kurt Warner shine with the Rams? Even Az-Zahir Hakim looked good out there. I know I have spoke on Manning before, about how he switches the plays and controls the game, but I have been hearing things lately about him calling all of the plays. I wouldn't doubt it.

Tom Brady, New England

It's hard to tell how important a player is to the team until they are gone. Over the past few seasons I don't remember Brady ever missing a start. I do however remember him taking over for Bledsoe and doing wonders with the team - just as I remember Brady getting hurt come playoff time and Bledsoe coming through. I think Brady is an awesome quaterback, but I don't know that Bledsoe wouldn't have won the superbowl if he stayed with the team (see 1997).

Ray Lewis, Baltimore Ravens

I think this is the easiest to call. The Ravens would probably have the same record they do now without Lewis. And this is coming from someone who believes Ray Lewis is the best linebacker in the league. They are just too good defensivley all around.

Terrell Owens, Philadelphia Eagles

We'll see.

Michael Vick, Atlanta Falcons

I really can't make a case to discredit Vick, and I might play favorites with Manning, but the Falcons have a much better defense than the Colts. I say, put Manning on the Falcons and he triples Vick's touchdown total.

For me it really comes down to Vick and Manning, and I think Manning is just too good. Notice how each year the Colts are getting better as a whole, specifically the offense, while the defense remains mediocre.

its got to be manning, yeah you got weapons in recievers but who is going to get them the ball? edge can run but when you dont have a passing game defenses will just stack the box on you. combine that with the fact that indy doesnt have a great d and the team sputters without manning

Also, Manning's backup is Jim Sorgi, drafted in the 6th round (Badgers) this past year. Only reason I know this is because he came in for Peyton during the game - against detroit - when I thought Manning was going to throw for 10 TD's (bet anything he could have). If not for that occasion, I would have no idea who the backup was.

I can dig that...but even still...Harrison,Wayne and Edge over Price,Dunn/Duckett,White(even though he is an ex-Bear)...I would prolly go with Crumpler over Clark though...

And ill give you Stokely...but maybe they just know how to utilize him better than Baltimore did...lets be real...Baltimore had the worst offense and best defense 2 years ago...

You also have to remember that St.Loius shined with 2 different QB's...Hakim is still a great route runner...and has some speed...but Detroit and St.Lious are 2 VERY different offenses as well...St.Louis was run & gun....Detriot tries to finesse teams...and it aint workin!

I might agree with you on this one. After seein what happened on Monday night...its pretty clear that Brady IS the corner stone of the Pats. But enter COrey Dillon.THe whole point of bringin him in was to give NE a much more potent offense...and it worked. They are poised to win it again...as long as theyre secondary recovers...and SOON.

Ray Lewis, Baltimore Ravens

Maybe i can get the title "Jae The Guru"?LOL....

Terrell Owens, Philadelphia Eagles

We'll see.
Whats sad about this..is Philly got MAD talent...why are they so distraut without TO?I know theyve gone and lost the NFC championship the last few years...but McNabb looks BETTER this year...and they now have experience...theres no reason they SHOULD lose this year...especially with such a depleted NFC...let me rephrase that...CRAPY NFC...there we go....

Michael Vick, Atlanta Falcons

I really can't make a case to discredit Vick, and I might play favorites with Manning, but the Falcons have a much better defense than the Colts. I say, put Manning on the Falcons and he triples Vick's touchdown total.
I agree.Vick is exciting.VERY exciting.BUt when you lead youre team in rushing, and youre the QB...somethin is wron with the system.THey are relying on Vick TOO DAMN MUCH...we all saw what happened to that team when he was out for what...8 weeks?Terrible....itll be the death of the Falcons...you live by the Vick...YOU DIE BY THE VICK!

For me it really comes down to Vick and Manning, and I think Manning is just too good. Notice how each year the Colts are getting better as a whole, specifically the offense, while the defense remains mediocre.
And thats why the COlts will NOT advacne to the Superbowl yet again.THey can score...no doubt.BUt look what Baltimore did...now if Baltimore had the offense of even the SEAHAWKS...they would beat the Colts. They aint gettin past Pitt...
