would u recomend saving trasnaprent files in a png. file over a gif.? i hate saving as a gif. cuz u lose quality

Yup PNG, if you were to say have an outer glow on it, you can see it online when saved as a PNG.

only problem I have ever had with PNG files is with the colors in Firefox on Mac. I had made my image to match the background and it looked fine in Safari but when I switched Firefox I noticed the change. I did a little research on it and found a patch but that was on some nerd shit that I'm not on yet. This was also over a year ago so there is a chance that that bug has already been addressed.

another thing I noticed about png files is when I upload them to my sites that resize the thumbnails it throws off the background.

but yeah I use png when saving any vector for the web

for the web png's aren't cross browser. check out a transparent bg png in ie6 and below that shit dont work.. you gotta use a gif with a dither for it to work in all browsers

whats a good format to save in besides png? gif/jpeg leaves my shit kinda pixelated when you zoom in.

for fast loading graphics a medium quality gif or jpeg, for quality and in the event you are using transparent graphics with round edgest etc. go png.

but you need to know that the transparency on png dont work with IE 6 and older.. works good with firefox..

Yeah it can with IE 6, there is a plugin or update. I think more and more people are getting into firefox, even the non computer savvy people because of what they here.

there is a pngbehavior that is a file and a short link to the script file that fix the problem for png in IE6, thats a good solution if its for your own website but if the png is for a lets say siccness or myspace or what ever site that aint a option..
