Yes everybody and their Mother has a mixtape...Its a great concept, it works for real M.C.'s trying to get signed to majors, get seen by the majors, etc...But when Lil Joe Blow puts his out with the same song that Demolition Men got, it is watering down the shelves....So I don't pay attention to them, unless I have to....We'll see if any work??????Maybe Yukmouth, Big Rich, and a couple others, but beyond that you have to work twice as hard to get the credibility to me.....

I actually like mixtapes but i do have my own mixtape series so Im biased. I think when done right mixtapes are ill. It's true a lot of people be rapping over the same beats on their mixtapes which is repetitive. I think actually having them mixed is important. I include some old beats on my mixtapes so it doesn't have the same beats as everyone and i try to use beats from all regions. There were some cats that had a mixtape on here that was using all 80's music. I thought that was a real clever idea. I never heard that one though. I think a lot of cats just need to be more creative and you gotta use the format to your advantage.

They do care. Especially if you put out quality beats. I know producers who have gotten signed when they sent in their demo and the artists was ignored. "The artists are not bad but its not what we are looking for, however who did the production, we would like to get in contact with them". Thats exactly what happenes.

My problem with mix tapes is the quality SUCKS and i'm sick of hearing artists use the same played out beats. The mics sound like radio shack mics most of the time. The Dj is yelling some bullshiit over the song. The dj's dont actually mix. Its nothing but shout outs and dj promotion. Maybe 10-15 years ago it was aiight But now its so saturated its sickening.
I guess its safe to say some producers make it through the cracks. I was interviewed by a Russell Simmons Music Group A&R who I will be working with really soon putting together my tour, and thats what i was told by him. No production just flow over these beats, and he'll be able to shop me the proper way. The last person he dealt with I wont say his name, but he is from Oakland and will be blowin soon, got a spot on 106 and Park, and show at Puffy's resturant "Justins" Hot 97 play in N.Y. and a Dj Green lantern slot, plus more off of just providing mixtape tracks and a press kit.

I think tha mixtape game is important. Especially for artists that are affiliated with a label but are currently on tha shelf. Sometimes you may not be the labels top priority so instead of just waiting and doing nothing, mixtapes give you an avenue to put out some tracks for tha streets to start diggin your style and skills. I think its a must to include exclusive shit with some of tha more popular industry beats. I lightweight agree though, there are waaaaay too many garbage ass mixtapes flooding store shelves, let alone garbage ass albums. People just need to start being honest wit themselves.
