i feel really retarded asking this because it is elementary. i use cubase sx2 with m-audio soundcard bheringer mixer. my problem is that i have a loop somewhere in my setup and i cant find it. when i try to record vocals it records the beat and the vocals onto the audio track when i just want the vocals. any help is appreciated thanks.

Which Behringer mixer do you have?
Ideal you'd want your soundcard outputs to your tape inputs. And then your master outputs to your soundcard.
Then you'd press the "tape to monitor" button and depress the "tape to mix" button. So then if you have a mic signal on channel one, and the soundcard music playing on the tape inputs, the soundcard outputs will only go to the monitors but not to the "mix" which is the main outputs.
You can also avoid this and use the "aux sends" if you are not using effects on it already.
