But the mindless club music is what makes people care about Pitbull.
What people? I have yet to meet a Pitbul fan.

Club music is for dancing. You can have two talented people whisper about ANYTHING and people will dance to it. They can care less what they're talking about.

Mos Def and dead prez don't have influence like he does.
Yes they do. You don't see Pitbul organizing a protest or some sort of rally or anything like that now do you?

Maybe if Pitbul actually had some sort of message, you might have an arguement.

The only thing Pitbull can influence is people dancing on the dance floor, which is not hard to do.

Does how a person chooses to make a living invalidate their ability to discuss issues? I mean because Pitbull makes a lot of money, sells a lot of records, has a lot of fans and Mos Def & dead prez, in comparison, don't that makes him less qualified to speak on the issue?
I didn't say he doesn't have the right to express his opinion, which he does, I just said who gives a fuck what he has to say? Not anyone I know.

I guess it depends on the person, because I've met far more than I've met Mos Def & dead prez fans combined.

When was the last time you were ever at a protest or rally organized by Mos Def or dead prez? And since when is influence based on one's ability or lack there of, to organize a protest or rally? Influence sure isn't based on message. He is able to reach AND influence a far greater number of people in a far more diverse socio-economic spectrum than either Mos Def or dead prez.

Again, how does message dictate influence? Maybe, we are going off different definitions. I would say influence would be based on the number of people able to be reached and the devotion given to that person by their "followers". Then one would apply give their message and use their influence upon others to both convince people of the message and to spread the message to a greater number of people.

Mos Def can get arrested outside the MTV awards and get less coverage than Pitbull making a little statement about Cuban politics.

I was chillin at my friends house last weekend and we ordered some pizza and the delivery guy was cuban. So my friend goes to pay and hes wearing a Che t-shirt. The Cuban delivery guy first asked if he was Cuban, and when my friend said no, he said too bad you're wearing that shirt. We asked him why and at first he didnt want to say, and then he said that Che was a murderer. The dude seemed really upset about seeing my friend wearing the shirt. It was an awkward moment so we left it at that. I wished I asked him some questions now looking back, because you always hear about how great a man Che Guevara was. I never heard anyhting negative about him before...

206 I fully and completely believe in the US campaign against the govt. of Cuba. I believe it exists, and no doubt people have died because of it.

However, does that invalidate any and all anti-Cuba dissent?

Fidel has used that line to jail people left and right whether or not there was evidence of US collusion.

It is extremely well known that you cannot say whatever you want in Cuba, and this is from ex-Cubanos, not me or you sitting back on the internet posting links. When people put vague little jabs at Castro or abstract concepts alluding to the regime in Cuban salsa, it's seen as daring.

Whatever Fidel's politics are, he still jails people for dissent and Cubanos still are not allowed to speak freely. And that's basically it.

You point to the US anti-Fidel campaign that is about as effective as our "War on Terror" as proof that any and all anti-Castro voices are simply paid propagandists...are you being simplistic on purpose, or do you really believe that Cuba is a free and liberal place?
