The only big news I ever heard about proof when he was alive is when JaRule and Black Child beat his ass down in Miami. I think thats the raeson Proof started packing heat anyways

Well he did win the (1999 Source magazine Unsigned Hype freestyle competition) and narrowly lost the Blaze battle that year, after hosting the Saturday afternoon MC battles at Maurice Malone's legendary Hip-Hop Shop for five years. IMO he was very well known to hiphop heads.

Same shit with Mac Dre.. Nobody gave a shit about him outside of the Bay until he died.. Now he's a legend....

I mean, at least Proof did shit mainstream-wise... Went plat three or four times, plus his album didn't do too shabby.

I mean, with Pac and Big, people made careers off of the fact that they knew him, or met him before. With Pac there was E-40, Luniz, C-Bo, and a bunch of others.. Biggie gave us Mase, Puffy, LOX and a bunch of others..

But that shit always happens. The guy dies and he becomes a legend, look at Big L.

I agree with everything you said but this. Big L was a very well known and respected MC in NYC and the east coast before he passed. Big L's legacy got around to other parts of the US and overseas by word of mouth because he was a dope MC, not because his death wasn blown up by the media and MTV and the likes.

In other words Big L would have been a legend regardless if he had died or not.

There's a lot of guys who are lyrical geniuses who never blow up though.. His death made him big...

But I was debating whether to type that one, just because Big L is so good, and he's not like the others.

DON'T GO TO THE D

Why he (Proof's Killer) got to be scarred? This dude could be a real ass G and have people who got his back that are 10 X harder than a fake rapper's crew. For all we know he may have major clout in the hood, just cause some hip hop fans never heard of dude don't mean he aint shit. Alot of rappers become popular, but don't mean they have power or run the streets.

yeah again that aint worth nothin to me. a lot of luv for being a local rap star is one thing, but fear and respect in the streets is another. You can have love from the streets, don't mean that the streets is scared of you or would ride for you against someone who might have more hood cats growing up respecting him and down for his crew. Just think if there was some hood star who no one outside the hood knew and he knew everyone and was feared and respected and people wouldn't mess with him. Then he went and killed some up and coming popular rapper in the town, who wasn't anybody before he started rappin., you think the hood is gonna go against their main man, because of a rapper, maybe a few hurt fans from the suburbs or who he was real close with. But no one on here knows either man that well to say either way, i'm just puttin that perspective out there, instead of asuming he is a dead man.
