My photoshop has been acting up on my lately. I'll open it up and start somthing then after a lil' while it It'll stop and the screen goes white and it takes like 10 minutes to be able to do somthing again or I'll have to end the program. any one know what could be causing this cuz its irritating the shit outta me

cleaning out your computer could help, defrag it, do a disk cleanup

but you still need more memory

man i could swear i posted in here yesterday....fuccin weed....

anyways i said that for now theres a few things you can do to optimise your memory and keep it from laggin so much until you buy some more RAM......

1. If you have more than one hard drive on your comp then you need to set the temp/history file to the drive wit the most amount of empty space.....to do this you'd go to edit>preferences>scratch disks and plugins......

2. You need to free up as much space as possible on the drive that is set for your temp/history file.....get rid of shit you dont use or need.....use add/remove programs under control panel to uninstall anything unneccessary and takin up space......burn all your biggest work files to cd or move em onto a removavle media like a usb flash drive if you have one.....so you can delete them from your comp......run cleanup disk and defrag.....

3. If its still laggin the only other thing you can do is start gettin a feel of when it starts laggin and at that point save your work and close it up.....this will erase the history file and start your memory fresh again....sometimes you even have to close photoshop too and start it bacc up....only thing is this can get really annoying and you wont be able to go bacc on anything you edited so do this as a last option and at your own risk......

but yeah you definitely gonna need some more RAM and id suggest getting another hard drive wit lots of Gigs of space you can point the temp file to and save your work on......

that would only make photoshop lag if hes under a gig on the scratch disk, i got over 500 gb's and i still run out but photoshop only lags when it gets to about 600mb left on my scratch disk
