The Department of Defense is planning to implant microchips in soldiers’ brains for monitoring their health information, and has already awarded a $1.6 million contract to the Center for Bioelectronics, Biosensors and Biochips (C3B) at Clemson University for the development of an implantable “biochip”.

Soldiers fear that the biochip, about the size of a grain of rice, which measures and relays information on soldiers vital signs 24 hours a day, can be used to put them under surveillance even when they are off duty.

But Anthony Guiseppi-Elie, C3B director and Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Bioengineering claims the that the invivo biosensors will save lives as first responders to the trauma scene could inject the biochip into the wounded victim and gather data almost immediately.

He believes that the device has other long-term potential applications, such as monitoring astronauts’ vital signs during long-duration space flights and reading blood-sugar levels for diabetics.

“We now lose a large percentage of patients to bleeding, and getting vital information such as how much oxygen is in the tissue back to ER physicians and medical personnel can often mean the difference between life and death,” said Guiseppi-Elie. “Our goal is to improve the quality and expediency of care for fallen soldiers and civilian trauma victims.” The biochip also may be injected as a precaution to future traumas.”

Clemson scientists have formulated a gel that mimics human tissue and reduces the chances of the body rejecting the biochip, which has been a problem in the past.

The researcher predicts the biochip is five years away from human trials, and the DoD could start implanting microchips in soldiers bodies soon after.

Did you read this part:
"first responders to the trauma scene could inject the biochip into the wounded victim and gather data almost immediately."
Maybe I should sign a document denying anyone's permission to injecting me with a chip. Not that it matters.

first I see someone say 'they will brand us like cattle' and then I see that the herd already exists by all the responses with the same shit.

its not just this case, its every fuckin thread. people find the inevitable, say its part of a plot, and then when the inevitable occurs, they say 'see the plot is real'. this is flat fuckin false logic.

consider this. consider that microchips and computers are really the only invention uniquely human. this implant shit is intended to save lives. a universal I'D is mor e efficient. with globalization the north american union is inevitable. we use to have paper mail now we mostly use electronic. the same will go for money cause it makes sense. fandango makes sense. using technology for our benefit makes sense.

shit is funny. you crybaby faggots are the same ones who called scientists witches a hundred years ago. and now you are on the internet everyday using your credit card at footlocker. its good thogu cause just like your counterparts a hundred years you realy won't do shit and your kids will embrace the things you fear. you're just all talk. now go burn you social security card and passport or shut he fuck up.

you make pretty strong generalizations about people. yet make no claims to what your doing. You would allow a chip to be implanted in yourself?

gts you said ''i don't understand why anyone would do this'' when the article says it could save wounded soldiers lives and help diabetes patients. once its tested and proves a benefit hell yeah I will take it if it could save my life.

the same shit with new medicines. people used to not trust it and say its magic. but I bet you'll take a pill if doc says it will save your life. if/when this chip does work, I guarantee insurance companies will reqire it for the bst rate. so unless you got your own doctor in your pocket...

we got pacemakers for heart patients, bionic arms and legs for people who are fucked up. I don't blame you guys, you're just scared. but you are lying to yourself if you don't think we are cattle already. and you're lying to yourself if you say you wouldn't use technology to save your life. it probably already has.

I understand, but if you read the soldiers also had fears about the chip being used as surveillance. That is way too much trust for me to handle. There are too many corrupt people with fucked up motives out there. If someone is dying and needs it that is their choice, when time changes and it's MANDATORY that is a problem in my eyes, and I'm sure a lot more would feel the same.

I agree but I don't think you appreciate the power the government already has. they can kill us in a blink. they have a war machine, we got guns. they can already freeze all your money. they can already employ bilogical war, fuck with water food suply etc. the only reason they would do that is if you resist their will, so I see what you're saying as a contradiction.

let me ask. if it was mandatory to have a chip in order to get health insurance and healthcare would you do it? if it was mandatory for your child would you make them get it?

Question is can you afford a chip, let alone healthcare. Verichip aint' gonna be giving these things away. My wife is pregnant so that's actually a tough question. But I guess no.

I believe some of people are taking an oppresion against any chip like this, is because it's probably taking too far.

So, sure it will provide more benefits, but there's also concerns. Why not develop (thus research?) something other than that involves a chip, a very small rice-like, chip?

I think making it mandatory is the problem. I don't buy much online, unless it would really save me a lot of money (never really happens, shipping makes up for anything you might save).

Yes there are some good things technology has helped us with. I would much rather carry around some kinda small flash drive with my medical records, not an RFID chip. It's been proven how bad the security is on those, plus flash drives I doubt you can track as easily.

How often do you think this really happens? Talk about conspiracy's...

they have a war machine, we got guns.
This is true, but i doubt the US is gonna drop a nuke on Frisco.

they can already freeze all your money.
Not cash.

they can already employ bilogical war, fuck with water food suply etc.
This is true and may have already been done.

the only reason they would do that is if you resist their will, so I see what you're saying as a contradiction.
Enter Martial Law.

let me ask. if it was mandatory to have a chip in order to get health insurance and healthcare would you do it?[/quote]

I go to a HMO right now, so no.

if it was mandatory for your child would you make them get it?
Im not having children, but no anyways.

There are always two sides to the coin...yes, the chip sounds great, but it also seems like it IS a bit too much control. THey can watch your every move. This is great if your a crook and the police want to catch you, but bad if your just an ordinary guy and get caught ina bad situation only cus your a dot on a blip screen...

As I think some conspiracy theories are ridiculous, some actually have brought good things to light that need to be examined and thought about...this is one of them.

my point is it doesnt matter what you think or want, you are disposable, easily manipulated, and by in large dependent on the government. you will do what they say whether you admit it here or not. you are already a dot on a blip, most major cities have continuus surveillance, heat signatures, patriot act taps your phones and your internet use. most of the information they get from is through your voluntary use technology. when you posted this, you made yourself a blip.
