I had respect for the Patriots now I don't. They should lose a first round pick and Belichick should be suspended for a game.

Belichek fined $500,000, Pats fined $250,000, if they make the playoffs they lose a 1st rounder, if they don't they lose their 2nd and 3rd.

Goodell's nuts
Just saw this.

Belichek should have been fined the most, because as head coach he knew (or should have known) what was happening on his sidelines.

Kinda unecessary to fine the organization, but I see the logic.

Losing their picks is not quite as bad as forfeiting a game, so they should just take it and move on.

yeah the fines ain't shit and the 1st rounder taken away wasn't really enough considering they still have another one traded from the 9ers. Wade Wilson's fine was more harsh.

LMAO!!!!!! those pictures are great!!!!

this was interesting from one of the articles on the other page:

As a former Patriots employee, Jets coach Eric Mangini must have known what was going on. So why didn't he have some kind of system of dummy calls set up to foul up the video surveillance?

"He did," says a former Patriots employee whose name cannot be used for obvious reasons. "He had three sets of signals being given, one real, two dummy. He had the same thing going when he beat the Patriots last year. But still, it means extra work, changing the way you prepare for a game. It means both clubs are not playing on the same level field, and that's what's wrong about it."

Actually, Belicheck said that the commissioner acknowledged the tape couldn't have been used during the game.

I'm willing to bet you can't find a quote of the commissioner saying it himself.

Am I to believe that the commissioner said that, or could it be one of Belichecks interpretations again? We all know he has a tough time interpreting the rules.

Banta-Cain knows why Patriots cheated

It's official. The league has found the Patriots guilty of cheating, as coach Bill Belichick illegally authorized the use of video equipment in an attempt to steal defensive signals from the Jets on Sunday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell ruled.

The best perspective on this situation was delivered by outside linebacker Tully Banta-Cain, who is in his first year with the 49ers after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Patriots.

"When you lose a guy like me, you're going to do whatever it takes to get the edge to win," Banta-Cain said.

(He was joking, of course. "Please don't write that I was serious," he said.)
