(BCN) SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco police don't know if a 15-year-old girl who was stabbed at a bakery Saturday afternoon on Portola Drive is going to survive her injuries, which were inflicted upon her by a man who apparently has no connection to her, Sgt. Steve Mannina reported.
Police arrested a suspect in the attack thanks to a person who witnessed the stabbing at Creighton's Bakery at 673 Portola Drive and then followed the suspect when he fled the bakery. The suspect eventually ran behind the Laguna Honda hospital, where the witness pointed him out to police, Mannina said. The suspect is described as a man in his late 20s who is a parolee out of Los Angeles.
Another person who was in the bakery at the time of the stabbing tried to intervene between the suspect and the girl and that person was also stabbed, Mannina said. According to a dispatcher with the San Francisco Fire Department, both victims were taken to San Francisco General Hospital. The attack took place just after 4 p.m.
Mannina said that it looks at though the suspect didn't know the victim and police don't' know what motivated the attack. "All that is under investigation," he said.
A woman who answered the phone at Creighton's Bakery and identified herself as the owner said she didn't see the stabbing, but that the bakery is currently closed and she doesn't know if it will re-open Sunday.
