You do realize that hundreds of earthquakes happen every day all over the world right? This isn't really any ground breaking news or anything.

Small earthquakes occur every day all around the world, and often multiple times a day in places like California and Alaska in the U.S., as well as Indonesia and Japan on the other side of the Pacific.[2] Large earthquakes occur less frequently, the relationship being exponential; namely, roughly ten times as many earthquakes larger than magnitude 4 occur in a particular time period than earthquakes larger than magnitude 5. For example, it has been calculated that the average recurrence for the United Kingdom can be described as follows:

No acctually it's not. There has been 354 earthquakes in Alaska since June 13th. Roughly 70 a day.

That is not out of the ordinary for Alaska at all.

How many earthquakes do we have in Alaska?

Daily = 50-100, Weekly = 400-700, Monthly = 1500-3000, Yearly = ~24000

This accounts for approximately 11% of the world's earthquakes and 52% of all earthquakes in the U.S. Alaska has more seismicity than any other region in North America and is by far the most seismically active state in the U.S.
