I believe the first was the Frisco Kid. He was more known as a DJ, but was the first to put out a rap record.

Shortly after than came a select group of others. I believe the next wave was Supermacks, Huey MC, Rappin Forte & Ill Mannered Posse, but not sure in what order.

Paris may belong in the above group, not sure exactly when his first street tape hit.

Then shortly after that Dre Dog, JT, San Quinn, RBL......

Anyone want to take a stab at an approximate timetine for what I'm trying to illustrate here?

Any corrections or filling in the blanks, go for it.

Oh yeah, Total Devastation had that maxi-single which was many many moons before "Many Clouds of Smoke".

and I vaguely remeber Basshouse Funk back then, but don't know if they had a record or not.

Good calls -

Polynesian Posse: remember hearing about them from my frisco patnas, but never saw them/heard them.

The COD: Hell yeah, I have this tape somewhere. I remember dude was kinda on the droppin science/kickin' knowledge tip, but maybe that was just one track? I also remember a couple of other things (possibly wrong): DJ X1 produced him, Cougnut and Huey and a few others appeared on it.

OG Triple 6: I kicked it with these guys at a couple of shows. My understanding was that the two black dudes were the rappers and this mexican dude named Danny (who is now ADR I think?) was the producer more or less? Danny hit me off with their tape but I think I misplaced it..

I had some old demonic samples/beats from some Italian horror movies I was gonna hook Danny up with but never did, lost touch with him.

FYI - I'm talking about some shit from like 15 years ago, so my memory might be fucked up on part of this.

Not really, history is important.

This ain't NYC where the early days are well documented, I think it's great that this shit will be archived online. I posted it because I clearly don't know it all, and may have some things wrong, but it's a start.

I know I should be more concerned about the price of Hyphy Juice, but I just can't get my priorities straight..
