It's OK not everybody has to be a fan.

(can't root for one school's football squad and another school's basketball squad unless the football school doesn't have a basketball squad or vice versa)

It doesn't work that way.

How are you going to be about the Portland/NW rap scene, even have the number "503" in your screenname, and pull for one of the local college football team (who happens to be good, very good), but not pull for that same hoops squad???

The combination of teams you've expressed shows very very strong fairweather tendencies. Those showing very very strong fairweather tendencies are stripping themselves of the ability to call themselves a sports fan.
