I like the whole sampler. One reason I always liked Tech from the start was because his beats and talent had the potential to be mainstream. I will admit, I only listened to mainstream music for the longest time; then when "It's Alive" came out on the radio here in KC, I was instantly hooked. One, because Nelly had just made it big and I was interested in anything that came out of Missouri. I thought, "This cat is pretty good," and I wanted to support him by buying his album. Two, the beats were catchy on the album, so I instantly was hooked because of his "mainstream potential."
So the fact that these beats sound more mainstream than ever, doesn't bother me. What will bother me is if Tech ever does a bunch of mainstream songs that talk about absolutely nothing or sound like shit. Too bad Nelly's first album was the only one I ever cared for. That one and the Lunatic's CD titled, "Free City."
