Did BadBoy go for looks when they signed Craig Mack.?...lmao. I agree that looks play a big part, but that's for the boys n girl bands, R&B and pop bands.

92 live u sounded like u were on the right track with alot of that post except the part about looks. there's too many examples of fat ass dudes and some rappers lookin like too short. I was at the done deal record release party standing right next to san quinn next to the stage when the finest bitch in the fuckin place gave quinn her number and he wasn't even trippin off that bitch. that mothafucka has got some charisma. I'm not saying all this shit cuz he's one of my personal favorites, it's real talk. Chuck: what's up with that hbo thing?

many people on here may not give a fuck about what i'm about to say, since it doesn't really affect them being the fact that most of you are men. but i do see looks taking a huge part in the "female" part of the industry. we have to live up to certain expectations as women and conform ourselves to a complete other person, with a few exceptions. personally, i think that is fucked up, people are missin out on some extremely talented ass women. peace

Mad No! Its rare i wont say never but very rare that comments make me mad its really fuel, we like comments like you said your post was intended to do, There is room for improvement in everyone, And women hasnt seem to be one of our problems at this label they all have too many women on them and they are al pretty much settled down its funny. But its all pretty much local love, but local to me isnt just the bay its Kansas City, and other spots throughtout the mid wesy and west coast wo have fucked with us since day one. Shit we went to Denver years ago b4 Fully Loaded's first tape dropped and Bitches were checking in our Hotel trying to be on the same floor as us(Stabdozer) can vouch for this, and it was a couple that flew us out there and dudes wife snuck in Quinns room trying to get him to hit Crazy! enuff about my artist, its like this to sell millions of records you have to reach women TRUE, BUT i dont think its looks Women have to want to Fuck you for what ever reason it may be, either you are Rich, they think you are fine, you got alot of game, nice body whatever they have to picture themselves fucking you bottom line, Biggie, jay z all the muthafuckas that bitches say is ugly want to fuck them for one reason or another!

this is an interesting post. 92live was right with a lot of the shit that he said. chuck seems like he knows what the fuck he's talking about. He's got some of the most talented up and coming artists in the bay and possibly the best (quinn). People blame the beats, styles, now charisma and looks and many other things for the bay not blowing up as a whole. In the song "Night and Day" from the done deal mix, Willie Hen and San Quinn spit the best lyrics i've ever heard on a bay area album in the 3rd verse of the song. If u haven't heard that song check it out cuz i'm still bumpin it and i got it before it hit stores from Big Larry. There should be many more artists in the bay blowin up right now. I think one of the main reasons is the number of rappers out here now putting some lyrics on a beat. Now we got these fuckin idiots like b-game hustla and people like that with no talent. The more rappers out here , the harder it will be for the good rappers to sell records and really stand out. Like Chuck says Done Deal has got some offers on the table so hopefully they will get the right deal to blow up and represent for San Francisco and the bay!!!

Entertainment isn't solely about talent, it's about a total package. You need to understand that the music industry is in the business of supplying a demand. Ugly ass broads who sing really good isn't what's in demand because they just don't appeal to the 15-25year old. MALE consumers.

Female rappers have never been and I doubt ever will be a hot commodity. They are like female football players trying to play in the NFL. Some of they can but for the most part, it's not what people are interested in seeing.

If you think the business is fucked up then you simply either don't understand the business or are too sensative of a person to be involved in it.

One last thing.... Do you think Justin Timberlake would be are hugely successful if he looked like Carrot Top?

All i simply stated was that people are missing out on some extremely talented ass females. Underground and Mainstream. The mentality that women aren't at the same "level" as men in this industry (football, etc...) is what i think is fucked up, which is mainly based on society (supply & demand). Personally to me justin timberlake has no talent what-so-ever so if he looked like carrot top, shrek or by societies standard a "beautiful white boy" i would not buy his album. but that is just my opinion, and obviously other people differ or else he wouldn't have sold so many damn albums.

i'm gonna have to get contacts now...........lol
no i like your mr magoo look :|

What category does ODB fall under? Talented, Ugly, Total Package? hah
Ol Dirty Bastard, although not hugely popular, has CHARM. He is the likeable crackhead of rap. People want(ed) to hear what he is going to say next or do next. He made the public curious and himself a spectacle and he sold some records because of it. If he wasn't such a crackhead, he probably could have parlayed his personality into a very successful career with the right managment.

I see that this post has sparked a "tiny" fire within some Artists and CEO's, and that is a very good thing for the Bay Area.
Some of you have brought up Craig Mack, Big Tymers and ODB as being ugly artists that have got MAJOR Label contracts and have succeeded, but look at it like this Craig Mack got his Gold Plaque and that was it, his second album flopped, Craig Mack is a GREAT lyricist and had production behind him and only got a Gold Plaque, Do you remember why (the real reason) why Craig Mack was dropped from Bad Boy back in the day???? Wasn't it because P. Diddy said that he didn't need two ugly artists and then groomed Mase as his Super Star???? Big Tymers (Baby as a businessman and CEO) sold 30,000 to 300,000 copies of "8" albums before they got there deal, that success was based soley on Hustle and Business smarts much in the same light as E-40, ODB got his Plaque from his first album after following the hype of the Wu-Tang Clans success, ODB is a very talented and "UNIQUE" "CHARATER", but who is the most successful artist from the Wu-Tang Clan???? Could it be MethodMan? Is he the most talented? Aren't GZA and Reakwon more talented lyricists?
I truly want to see Bay Area artists exploded within the Music Industry if that is what they strive to acheive. If they want to sell 5 Million Copies of one album, then come back and sell 8 Million Copies of their next album, then come back and sell 7 Million Copies of their next album Like Eminem did then I want to see them be able to. If they want to sell 9 Million Copies of one album and then come back and sell 5 Million Copies of their next album like Nelly did then I want to see them be able to, "BUT" to do so they have to see the BIGGGG Picture. I am born and raised in the California Bay Area and I love the Bay Area and I want to see the artists from the Bay Area succeed and make it to the status/level of which the bar has been set at.

For The Record the artists of which I feel have the best shots are:
1. Jacka
2. Freako (from the Ghetto Stars)
3. San Quinn
4. Messy Marv
5. A-Wax
and I know that 3 of those artists were on my list for not having the CHARISMA needed to be able to make it, but they are what we have to work with.
Done Deal CEO, I wish you guys the best of luck, and when I say that I mean success way beyond "JUST" the Bay Area. (you get what I was meaning now?)
